Free emulation software for windows

Fast and very professionally done - help file, install/uninstall routines. Freely changeable window size, plus fullscreen mode (with rounded edges and scanline emulation), rainbowing and quite good AY emulation too, with selectable frequency/volume/noise masking. Can open snapshots/tapes from within ZIP files without you having to unzip them. Good contended memory emulation. Automatically starts/stops tape files as needed, and gives a pretty good approximation of loading noise if you want it.

FCE Ultra is an NTSC and PAL Famicom/NES emulator for various platforms. It is based upon Beros original FCE source code. Current features include good PPU, pAPU, CPU, joystick and expansion chip emulation.
Also a feature unique to FCE Ultra(at the current time) is authentic Game Genie emulation. Save states and snapshot features also have been implemented.
All official instructions of the NES CPU, the 2A03, which is compatible(mostly) with the 6502, are emulated in FCE Ultra. "Unofficial" instructions are also emulated, though probably not as accurately as the more well-defined official instructions.
Main features:
- 8x8 and 8x16 sprites.
- Sprite hit emulation(including checking the bg color).
- 8 sprite limit(and flag emulation).
- Screen/Sprite disabling, with correct color replacement.
- Color deemphasis(probably not 100% correct, more research is needed).
- Strip colorburst bit emulated.
- CPU-instruction granularity for special mid-scanline effects(mostly CHR switching, such as used in "Pirates!", "Marble Madness", and "Mother").

Emu196 is an emulator for the Lab196 Educational Development System. Emu196 can emulate both the 80C19KB CPU and generally the complete system thus successfully running the operating system ( same as the one in the lab196 rom ) and anything else is confronted with.
The emulator can also inspect the status of the emulation and extract/change/insert usefull informations ( from general memory managment to file system managment ).
Emu196 was written in Visual Basic 6 and some Assembly used to achive some hacks ( not normally allowed by VB ) for an amazing performance boosting.
