XBoard project is a X and Windows graphical chessboard.

XBoard is a graphical chessboard for X that can serve as a user interface for GNU Chess, Crafty, other chess engines, and the Internet Chess Servers.

XBoard can also be used by itself to read and write game files in PGN (portable game notation). WinBoard is a port of XBoard to Microsoft Win32.

You can build xboard on most systems with the following commands.

./configure
make

Whats New in This Release:

· Version 4.2.7 corrects about two dozen bugs in the 4.2.6 release.
· In addition, WinBoard 4.2.7 comes bundled with GNU Chess 5.07 instead of the old 5.02+ version.
· The XBoard and WinBoard source code trees have been merged, so the xboard download now contains the complete source for both.

Yasis provides yet another scalable icon set.

Release 0.4.2 includes 24x24 filesystems and mimtypes to make it look better when you open/save a file or use Nautilus list view mode.

Yasis is the current default icon set for Dropline GNOME, its still under mid-active (if that exists) development, but there hasnt been a release in a while.

Install:

To install the iconset drag the .tar.bz2 file and drop
it in the theme preferences dialog.

Requirements:

· Simredo is a Java program, which means that it needs the Java Runtime Environment (abbreviated as JRE or J2RE) in order to run. Simredo 4.2 requires JRE version 1.4 or higher.

ChronoPhoto is a digital photograph viewer.

With ChronoPhoto, you can quickly view your digital photographs, select those you want to keep and get rid of the others.

ChronoPhoto has a multitude of features like photo importing, thumb viewing, fullscreen slideshow that make it a perfect tool for the average photographer.

ChronoPhoto is available for Mac OS X only.

Limitations:

· The total number of photos in a ChronoPhoto document is limited to 100.
· A key sign is displayed as a watermark on every photo during the slideshow and when printing.
· From time to time, a dialog box pops up to remind you to buy a license. The more you use ChronoPhoto, the more often you see those reminders.

InetUtils is a collection of common network programs. The GNU whois client reads a whois-servers file to figure out which whois server to use. It wont always pick the best server; whois.internic.net seems to know something about nic.ddn.mil, but the GNU whois client will use nic.ddn.mil to look up nic.ddn.mil if you use the configuration file we supply. Our configuration file probably also does not have a complete list of whois servers; feel free to send information about additional whois servers to our developers.

The file `paths contains a list of all paths used by programs in this distribution, and rules to find values for them. To change a path PATH_FOO, you may either tell configure, by using `--with-path-foo=VALUE (where VALUE may contain references to make variables such as `$(bindir)), or edit the `paths file.

If you wish to build only the clients or only the servers, you may wish to use the --disable-servers or --disable-clients options when invoking `configure. You can also use --enable- or --disable- to control whether to build individual programs; if you explicitly specify whether to build a program, that will override the values specified by --disable-clients or --disable-servers.

Notes:
1) all the manpages will be installed, regardless of which programs are built. The whois server list will also be installed. You can use `make install-exec instead of `make install if you do not want to install these files.

2) All of the r* commands clients, rcp, rlogin, rsh, need to be install setuid root to work correctly they use priviledge ports for communication.

Some known deficiencies:
o Many programs do not support long options, such as --version or --help.
o The authentication and encryption options have not been tested.

The Tilery displays tiles, each of which represents an application, document, folder, control panel, or other such item.

Clicking a tile opens its item: applications are launched or brought to the front, documents are opened, folders are opened and displayed in Finder windows.

In addition you can create tiles that will launch applications and open documents, folders, control panels, and more.

Whats New in This Release:

· This release fixes version 4.2s incompatibility with Mac OS 8.1 and earlier.
· Version 4.2 fixed an obscure system bug that caused Finder problems when Virtual Memory was turned off and The Tilerys "Finder to Front at Startup" option was turned on.
· It also adds the new "Path" item to tile menus, giving easy access to parent folders and their contents.
