IconsExtract can scan the folders and files on your PC, and extract the icons and cursors stored in EXE, DLL, CPL, OCX and other file types.
You can save the extracted icons to ICO files (or CUR files for cursors), or copy the image of a single icon into the clipboard.

XTraktor 2.0 is developed to be a helpful file copy utility that enables users to specify an input folder, file extension and output folder. It performs a search on the input folder and all subfolders, matches file names against the file extension, and copies any matched files to the output folder.

XTraktor includes options for handling situations when matched file names conflict with names of files already located in the output folder. It includes options for logging and for retaining default values. It also includes a Script Mode option for launching the application from within scripts or as scheduled tasks.

Obscure-Extractor is a small Gtk software application to extract files from (mostly) game archive formats.
Currently supports Neverwinter Nights, Homeworld 2, BloodRayne and a "generic" module to find RIFF and BMP files. More formats need to be ported from the old Delphi version.

This is still a work in progress, but so far its proven quite useful and I feel others can also benefit from it.
I should stress that Universal Extractor is not intended to be a general purpose archiving software. It will never replace WinRAR, 7-Zip, etc. What it will do is allow you to extract files from virtually any type of archive, regardless of source, compression method, etc.
The original motivation behind this project was that I wanted an easy, convenient way to extract files from installation packages, such as Inno Setup or Windows Installer packages, without pulling up a command line every time. In the process I got a little carried away and ended up throwing in support for every kind of archive format I possibly could find.
