FavOrg is about favicons. Favicons appeared with Internet Explorer 5.0. Whenever you connect to a Web site that proposes a favicon, Internet Explorer will download that icon to your system and will use it for any shortcut or menu item created for this web link. This is a useful feature because this will make finding a particular site in your Favorites folder easier, especially if you have many favorites.
What is a favicon by the way? Internet Explorer will always look for a file named favicon.ico in the root folder of any site to which you connect. For example, if you connect to http://www.thissite.com/programs/freeware/index.htm, the favicon URL should be http://www.thissite.com/favicon.ico. If IE finds such a file, it will download it as soon as you create a new item for this site in your favorites folder (Add to favorites... command). This icon will be assigned to the corresponding shortcut automatically. You?ll see that a favicon is sometimes not an actual icon but a bitmap (which sometimes leads to minor display problems).
So, why do we need a utility to manage these favicons? Because Internet Explorer doesn?t do its job very well. The downloaded icon file is stored as a temporary file. Which means that after a while, the favicon will disappear and your shortcut will be associated again with the standard Internet Explorer icon. This often happens after cleaning up your Temporary Internet Files folder. FavOrg will fix this problem and ensure that your favicons are made sticky. That is, once downloaded, the icon will be assigned to the shortcut permanently. FavOrg stores the favicons in a user-defined folder.
Also, for unknown reasons, Internet Explorer sometimes fails to automatically download the favicon. FavOrg will check any Internet shortcut in your favorites folder and will automatically download and install the favicon if it is present on that particular Web site.
FavOrg also allows you to assign an icon of your choice to any of your Internet favorites, even if there?s no favicon downloadable from the corresponding Web site.
Finally, since FavOrg must check the validity of an Internet shortcut before trying to download the corresponding favicon (if any), this is a good opportunity to find which of your favorites links are broken. FavOrg will report dead sites, removed or moved pages and will also be able to automatically reset a link to the site?s root page (if a page has been removed) or to update a link to a page that has been relocated.
FavOrg is not a replacement for the Organize favorites dialog box. It is just here to manage the favicons and the custom icons assigned to a given Internet shortcut and to give you information about dead links (which you may decide to delete).

Determinate the route packets travel across an IP network with SI Trace tool. If you cannot connect to a computer over a network, there might be something wrong with the remote PC or with your Internet connection. Or your router might need a reset.
Or your Internet provider could be having a temporarily problem that theyll eventually solve. Or maybe its the fault of one of the routers, switches, access points, servers, or other network hosts that are in between you and the remote computer. How would you know for sure?
In the beginning of the Internet, a tool called traceroute was introduced in Unix. Traceroute does exactly what its name suggests: it traces the route of IP packets while they travel from your PC to the remote destination.
SI Trace will allow you to see exactly where the connectivity problem is, no matter how far it is from your computer. The last host to respond to traceroute is the last host that is working properly. The first one that fails to respond is the faulty one.
Usually you would get a response right in the console window in a matter of seconds. You get the response in a Spartan-looking black console window.
While theres nothing particularly wrong in using the supplied tracert.exe, we at Soft Institute wrapped the same thing into a much more convenient package.
SI Trace provides clearly legible, well-formatted output by providing easy to understand numbers and well-explained results. It displays all the vital information from classic Unix traceroute and Windows tracert commands, and allows you to check more than one computer by simply selecting the address from a combo box. Thanks to its user-friendly interface, it is much more convenient to use than Windows tracert.

IPNetInfo is a small utility that allows you to easily find all available info. more>> IPNetInfo is a small utility that allows you to easily find all available information about an IP address: The owner of the IP address, the country/state name, IP addresses range, contact information (address, phone, fax, and email), and more.
This utility can be very useful for finding the origin of unsolicited mail. You can simply copy the message headers from your email software and paste them into IPNetInfo utility. IPNetInfo automatically extracts all IP addresses from the message headers, and displays the information about these IP addresses.
How does it work ?
The IP address information is retrieved by sending a request to the whois server of ARIN. If ARIN doesnt maintain the information about the requested IP address, a second request is sent to the whois server of RIPE, APNIC, LACNIC or AfriNIC.
After the IP address information is retrieved, IPNetInfo analyzes the Whois record and displays it in a table.
Notice: From time to time, the WHOIS server of ARIN is down and doesnt respond to WHOIS requests from IPNetInfo, and thus IPNetinfo fails to retrieve the IP address. When such a thing occurs, simply try again later.

main window of MessenPass.
If from some reason, MessenPass fails to
locate the installed Instant Messenger application, you can try to
manually select the right folder of your IM application by using Select

items, and then copy them to the clipboard in tab-delimited format (you
can paste this format into Excel or Open-Office Spreadsheet), or save
