The Fedora Unity Project has been created by concerned peers in the Fedora Community to bring quality solutions to the Community. These are members of the Community who want to see the best solutions find their way into the hands of the Community. Members include site maintainers, Fedora Project contributors and interested users.

The Re-Spin task has been taken up by Fedora Unity to provide the Community with the chance to install Fedora Core with recent updates, which might otherwise be several hundred megabytes of downloads, already included. This is a Community project, for the Community, by the Community. You can contribute to the Community by seeding the torrent after your download has completed or by joining the test process.

The Fedora Unity Project intends to release early and release often, with new Re-Spins provided early each month during the life of each Fedora Core release until that release is transferred to Fedora Legacy. Early snapshots will be taken mid-month to start testing. Final snapshots will be taken about a week before the release. Fedora Digital Object Repository is an open source software which gives organizations a flexible service-oriented architecture for managing and delivering their digital content. At its core is a powerful digital object model that supports multiple views of each digital object and the relationships among digital objects.

Digital objects can encapsulate locally-managed content or make reference to remote content. Dynamic views are possible by associating web services with objects. Digital objects exist within a repository architecture that supports a variety of management functions. All functions of Fedora, both at the object and repository level, are exposed as web services. These functions can be protected with fine-grained access control policies.

This unique combination of features makes Fedora an attractive solution in a variety of domains. Some examples of applications that are built upon Fedora include library collections management, multimedia authoring systems, archival repositories, institutional repositories, and digital libraries for education.

Unfortunately, the news in FC5 is almost all bad. Totem and Xine are both completely broken.

There are some Damned Things like enabling Java and Flash in Mozilla, playing MP3 files, playing Quicktime/AVI/RealMedia/Windows Media streams, and playing encrypted DVDs that the Fedora distro folks wont tell you how to do, either because theyre afraid of being sued under the DMCA or for various other esthetic and political reasons.

This HOWTO collects the relevant information in one place. It is not a general multimedia-on-Linux HOWTO; if it were, there are hundreds of nifty tools and packages it would list (starting with the GIMP and all its kindred and forks and symbiotes). Fedora Directory Server is a full-featured LDAPv3 compliant server.

In addition to the standard LDAPv3 operations, Fedora Directory Server supports multi-master replication, fully online configuration and administration, chaining, virtual attributes, access control directives in the data, Virtual List View, server-side sorting, SASL, TLS/SSL, and many other features.

LinuxTLE project is a community Linux distribution developed in Thailand and designed for the Thai speaking audience. The early versions were based on Red Hat Linux and Fedora Core, but starting with version 8.0, the developers have chosen Ubuntu as the distributions new base system.

The projects latest release is a beta build of LinuxTLE 8.0 (code name "Patong"), a distribution now based on Ubuntu instead of Red Hat and Fedora Core as was the case with the previous versions.

The release is a re-mastered edition of the Ubuntu 6.10 installation CD, with kernel 2.6.17.10, GNOME 2.16, Firefox 2.0, LibThai 0.1.7 (a set of Thai language support routines), updated TLEDict Thai dictionary and TLE-Center administration module, APT and Synaptic package management utilities, and the usual range of open source software packages and some proprietary kernel modules.

Sipbomber is a tool for testing SIP protocol (RFC 3261) implementations. It checks only server implementations, or UAS (proxies, user agent servers, redirect servers, and registrars).

Sipbomber features a QT user interface and automatic and manual testing modes, and incorporates CERT tests.
