Change file directory names to match internal font names for OpenType and TrueType fonts (plain text names only) more>> Change file directory names to match internal font names for OpenType and TrueType fonts (plain text names only)
FontRename is a Java 1.4 application to rename OpenType and TrueType font files with their internal English "font full name" using only plain text characters (ASCII) plus an extension for the type (*.OTF, *.TTC, *.TTF). This gives consistent names to font files, no matter what their source.
FontRename does not change the contents of the file, only the names in the system file directory.
FontRename is an early version of what eventually became the 400-pound gorilla called RenameUniFont, which has options to choose the preferred language, and includes a table to convert many non-Latin characters to phonetic equivalents.
