Passback for AOL Instant Messenger 1.0 is an application to restore passwords for FTP, IM and email clients. It is free. Many client applications will store username and login information for each site, rather than asking the user for them on every connection. The PassBack suite is a set of components that can decrypt the password information from the client application's password database and display them in plaintext. The main limitation of this approach is that a seperate component has to be written for each client application, and therefore many applications are not supported. Nitro Technologies have however developed a different approach to network client password recovery, and have released two products which offer generic password recovery for any FTP/Email client ever written.

MR Tech AOL Cleaner is a tool to do some major house cleaning of what AOL & AIM install with their latest installers. For more info read "Recovering from AOLs Installed Tools" posting at the "MR Tech Tip & Tweaks Forum".
It currently prompts you to pick the uninstallation and removal of any of the following "non-critical" AOL or AIM installed programs:

Note: for components that AOL may need later, it will reinstall them accordingly.
It then it will read registry locations of each component and uninstaller, then will try to run the uninstaller, remove files/directories based on registry locations, clean up most clsid entries and will then cleanup common installation paths for other lingering files.

AOL Tools is a useful application that provides fun features for you to use on AOL. It is freeware.
