Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP description
Two virtual serial ports connected via virtual null-modem cable Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP is an advanced configuration tool, which purpose is to emulate RS232 serial ports connected via virtual null-modem cable.

Using Virtual Serial Ports Driver, which can be easily included in your own software providing, is a simple and robust way to create and configure virtual serial ports directly from your application (if you purchase OEM version only).

In other words, with VSPD XP you can create any number of pure virtual serial ports in your system connected into pairs via virtual null-modem cable without having real serial ports occupied.

Virtual Serial Ports appear to operating system or any Windows application as "standard" hardware serial ports. Virtual serial ports created by VSPD XP work exactly the same as real ports in your system managing all signal lines and emulating baud rate.

Everything that the first application sends to COM5 will be received by the second application at COM6, and all data sent to COM6 by the second application will be received by
      the first one at COM5.

Virtual Serial Ports Driver (VSPD) is a Windows device driver. Using it you can create any number of virtual serial COM ports in your system which will be virtually connected to each other.

For example, after installing VSPD, you will have Virtual Serial Port COM5 and Virtual Serial Port COM6 added to your system and you will connect two different applications to them. These ports will behave like real common serial ports to other Windows applications.

These ports will not interact with any hardware. The idea is: all data sent by other application to COM5 will arrive at COM6, and all data sent by other applications to COM6 will arrive at COM5. So, the application, that listening COM5 will get all data, sent by other application to COM6 and vise-versa.

Here are some key features of "Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP":

Hot" installation - no reboot required after installation, creation or reconfiguration of virtual serial ports
You can create as many virtual serial ports pairs as you want
Full baud rate emulation (for Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003) NEW!
You can control virtual serial ports directly from your own application using Dynamic Link Library supplied with VSPD XP
Virtual Serial Ports are absolutely the same copies of real ones - other applications will never see the difference between real serial port and virtual serial port. You can manage different signal lines (DTR/DSR/CTS/RTS/DCD/RI) etc. NEW!
Full support of HandFlow control (Hardware/(Xon/Xoff)) etc
Real serial ports are not occupied (actually, you can even have no real serial ports in your system and work with virtual ones)
Link between virtual serial ports is much faster than real null-modem cable connection and solely depends on your processor speed. Average transfer speed is about 35-40 Kbytes/sec
VSPD XP uses advanced Windows kernel driver technology (supporting WDM, WMI, Power Management, PnP, etc.)
Virtual link is much more reliable than common physical link
Virtual Serial Port may have any name you like
Virtual Serial Port can have the same name as real serial port (virtual serial port overlapping). Application may connect to real port through virtual one and vise versa. This may result in may additional ways of VSPD XP utilization
Printers can be assigned to any Virtual Serial Port (available after Windows reboot) NEW!
Set custom signal lines wiring (custom pinout) (for Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003) NEW!
Set/unset line connection break (for Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003) NEW!
Get complete information about current virtual serial port state (current state, sent/received bytes, Baudrate/ControlLine/HandFlow state etc.)(for Windows NT4/2000/XP/2003) NEW!
User friendly GUI and on-the-fly help. It is very easy to configure virtual serial ports pair!
Automatic port creating during system boot (prior to user login) NEW!

Virtual Serial Ports Driver CE creates up to 20 pure virtual serial ports in your mobile system, this results in up to 10 virtual serial ports pairs. Each pair has 2 ports that are virtually connected to each other. For other applications, virtual serial ports will be seen exactly as two real serial ports connected via virtual null-modem cable. You can select any port numbers for virtual serial port pair as well as change their names from COM to VSP. For example, you can create virtual pair COM5-COM6 (or VSP0-VSP9). In this case all data sent by other applications to virtual serial port COM5 (VSP0) will arrive at virtual serial port COM6 (VSP9), and all data sent to virtual serial port COM6 will arrive at virtual serial port COM5 (VSP0). This can be seen if you run two terminal programs available for your OS and connect one of them to virtual serial port COM5 and other one to COM6. Then, all you type in first terminal will appear at second one. Of course, you can transfer files, other data or do whatever you want as if there are more real serial ports in your embedded device. With Virtual Serial Port Driver CE you can connect one application to another using virtual serial ports pair. Applications will be able to exchange data. This solution can be used, for example, for GPS simulation programs.

Or you dont have hardware serial ports at all .Created virtual port pairs look like real hardware ports. Application working with virtual ports will never see the difference. With Eltima VSPD XP you can connect several pairs of programs simultaneously. This solution will free your hardware ports and establish secure and fast connection between virtual ports. Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP allows configuring created virtual ports settings directly from the application or HyperTerminal on any side of the connection. Eltima Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP gives you the ability to create as many virtual serial ports in your system as possible to fit your professional needs. It saves your time, money and efforts, as link between virtual serial ports is much faster and more secure than real null modem connection and all it depends on is your processor speed. Created virtual serial port can have any name (COMn by default) or can have the same name as real serial port. In this case virtual serial port overlapping happens. Applications may reach virtual serial port via real serial one and vice versa. You can use this solution as a base one in your own software (OEM License needed). Virtual serial ports created with Eltima Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP emulate and support all usual hardware signal lines (DTR/DSR, RTS/CTS, RING, ERROR, DCD, etc.) As in real null-modem connection, DTR of the local port connected to DSR and DCD of the remote port, and RTS of the local port connected to CTS of the remote port. Virtual Serial Ports Driver XP is an advanced configuration utility, which purpose is to emulate RS232 serial ports connected via virtual null-modem cable using Virtual Serial Ports Driver, which can be easily included in your own software providing simple and robust way to create and configure virtual serial ports directly from your application (if you purchase OEM version only). Of course, you can transfer files, other data or do whatever you want as they were real serial ports. For instance, using Virtual Serial Ports Driver you can create two virtual serial ports: COM5 and COM6 and connect two different applications to them. Everything that the first application sends to COM5 will be received by the second application at COM6, and all data sent to COM6 by the second application will be received by the first one at COM5. "Hot" installation - no reboot required after installation, creation or reconfiguration of virtual serial ports.
