Excel Search and Replace is a freeware macro for Microsoft Excel Excel Search and Replace is a freeware macro for Microsoft Excel. ExcelSR is ment for those who need to search (and replace) in Excel documents but find Funducs Search and Replace too powerful for your purposes. Excel Search and Replace uses the find and replace functions built-in to Microsoft Excel. It does not use our Search and Replace product so your available functions are the same as those present in the Excel Find and Replace dialog. Excel Search and Replace can process more than one file by specifying a wild card in the dialog File Mask (with path) field.

Please click the Close button the first time you open ExcelSR.xls and read through the text in the file for usage information. Also review the readme.txt file in ExcelSR.zip.
Excel Search and Replace requires that you have macro functioning turned on. You may need to enable Excel macros in your Options settings if macros were disabled as an anti-virus measure.
Scan the file (ExcelSR.xls) with your anti-virus scanner before you open the file for the first time.
Excel Search and Replace can only process files understood by your Excel installation. .xls files are understood by default. Whether you can handle any other file types depends on the conversion features installed for your Microsoft Office. Consult the Office Assistant for more information on conversion functionality.
Back up your files first. Do NOT rely on the Excel undo function. Excel Search and Replace writes a file named ExcelSR_Results.txt in the same path that the operation is performed in. This file summarizes the search results or changes made. However, there is no built-in backup functionality.
System requirements:
- To use this macro you must enable Excel Macros. Some users will have macro functioning disabled, or at a high security setting, due to anti-virus measures. Consult your Microsoft Excel manual for instructions on how to change Macro permissions. In Excel 2000, go to Tools | Macro | Security and select Medium or Low. You to scan the document with your anti-virus scanner before running the macro for the first time.
- If instead of the "Search and Replace in Documents" form you get an error message, you cannot use this script. Some version of Excel distributed along with Microsoft Works do not includ the necessary VBA (Visual Basic for Applications) modules that are needed to perform the operation. Upgrading to a full version of Excel and/or Microsoft Office is the only solution.
