She is probably best known as Buffy Summers in the acclaimed television series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She has since become known as a film actress, having starred in the family film Scooby-Doo (2002), the independent film Harvard Man (2001), the teen drama Cruel Intentions (1999) and the horror films The Return (2006), The Grudge 2 (2006), The Grudge (2004), I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997) and Scream 2 (1997).Eating in a local restaurant, she was discovered by an agent when she was 4 years old. Soon after she was making her first movie, An Invasion of Privacy (1983) (TV). Besides a long list of movies, she has also appeared in many TV commercials and on the stage. Her breakthrough came with TV-series Swans Crossing (1992). During 1997 she became known to the cinema audience when she appeared in movies at the cinema.Ever since playing the title role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), she has had a reputation as a stickler for on-the-set safety. This showed when Charles Cyphers guest-starred in an episode of BTVS: while filming, he accidentally got hit on the head with a piece of pipe. Michelle Trachtenbergs television acting career took off with a guest starring role on the Nickelodeon series, The Adventures of Pete and Pete as Nona Mecklenberg. While that series continued, Michelle moved on to daytime soaps as Lily Montgomery on All My Children. While on the show for two years, Michelle worked with her now Buffy co-star, Sarah Michelle Gellar. In 1996, Michelle got her first leading role as Harriet in the Nickelodeon movie, Harriet the Spy. Her career continued with roles in the TV movies, A Holiday for Love and A Fathers Choice, the TV series Meego and was a recurring guest on the Nickelodeon game show, Figure It Out. In 1999, Michelle landed the role of Penny in the movie, Inspector Gadget and co-starred as Julie in Cant Be Heaven. Her latest movie released to theaters was Snow Days. In the summer of 2000, Michelle Trachtenberg got the role of Dawn on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and is the first character since the shows start to begin as a regular cast member.
