Users can specify expressions representing complex patterns that are difficult or impossible to find using only masks, such as: e-mail addresses, telephone numbers, IP addresses etc. In the Unix-class systems regular expressions are handled by a program called GREP (Global Regular Expression Print).

V-Grep (Visual GREP) gives you whole functionality of GREP and lots of other very useful options - all packed in a typical Windows GUI. V-Grep allows you also to search for files even without any knowledge about regular expression, but even then it ́s much better way to do this than by using Windows built-in search feature, mainly because of a more legible search results.

AJC Grep is a powerful file finder, text search, replace and data extraction program for Windows that lets you use regular expressions. AJC Grep is very easy to use and is a vast improvement over the built in Windows search facility.

The many uses for AJC Grep include: file finder, text finder, text replacement, text extraction, data conversion, directory tree printer, file list printer and file matches printer.

Files are selected according to a powerful set of criteria and then presented in several different integrated viewing lists. These include directory tree view, files list view, matches view, matches in context view, full file view, text output view.
