Free gzip software for windows

A Delphi component that adds gzip and gunzip functionality to your own programs. It comes as source-code and is freeware.

Muzip is a compression utility that supports many formats: Zip, Tar, GZip, UUE.
Main features:
- All formats are available for reading and writing: you can uncompress but create your own archives too in Zip, Tar, GZip and UUE formats!
- In an add request, you can compress a whole directory without particular files or sub-directories.
- Muzip displays the directories tree as the Explorer, whereas WinZip only has a simple list.
- The files and directories can be manipulated using various functions: you can add, delete, copy, move, rename, and create sub-directories...
- The selected file content is always visible in a preview area, which supports many formats.
- You can list the contents of an archive using various formats: plain text, HTML, CSV...

Zipper is a free and animated utility for zipping and unzipping files.
Drag files and/or folders onto the Widget and it will compress them into an intelligently named archive, or drop archive files and it will unzip them into folders.

WinBZip2 is an small freeware tool for working with files produced by bzip2 utility (usually its files with .bz2 extension) and also create such files.
Main features include the compressing, decompressing and testing the integrity of bzip2 files.
The bzip2 is an command line driven compression utility, similar to gzip, but with more strong compression and more liberal license, also free from patented algorithms and currently popular almost as the gzip. Bzip2 is not archiving utility, i.e. its cant roll up several files together. It simply compress the specified file.

Compression is generally considerably better than that achieved by more conventional LZ77/LZ78-based compressors, and approaches the performance of the PPM family of statistical compressors".
