Free hex edit software for windows

This hex editor is a simple program that lets you view and modify raw file data.
Hex Editor may be found very useful when trying to determine formats of files with an unknown extension and also when writing codecs for certain formats for a image editor.
Despite the fact it is a small application, Hex Editor has many interesting features that make this program useful anytime when needed.

- Source Edit supports recording of keyboard macros that can be saved as a keyboard shortcut (for example Ctrl+1) and to the toolbar. Source Edit can also repeat any command any number of times automatically.
Custom tools
- You can also add any custom tool to Source Edit tools menu and toolbar. This is usefull for example when you want to compile your code. This feature also supports capturing of any output from the application you call. This output may be shown in the Output Window.

Bookmarks
- Source Edit supports any number of bookmarks in your code or document. Simply add a bookmark and you can then return to that part of the text with the click of a button. This is very handy when youre working with large documents.
Customizable
- Source Edit is highly customizable. You can change or set keyboard shortcut to all commands available. You can change how code is colorized. You can also set the "file mapping". By file mapping you associate different file types to different languages. So when you open or save a file with a *.cpp extention, for example, Source Edit will immediately use the C/C++ color coding. You are also able to change what files are shown in the Open and Save As dialog boxes.
Projects/Workspaces
- With the new Projects menu (new in version 1.2) you can add different Workspaces. You can add several files to one Workspace and by opening that Workspace all files will be opened at the same time.
Search and Replace in Files
- Source Edit reports in which file/files the search for text exists and on which line. You may then open the file and Source Edit will jump to the correct line.

HABEdit is a file viewer and file editor similar to the Notepad utility but with a number of enhanced features.
Main features:
- Several files may be opened at the same time in different windows.
- Non-text files (and text files) may be opened and edited in Hex-view
- HABEdit does not "choke" on large files or switch to WordPad as do Windows 9X versions of Notepad. Instead it loads as much of the file as it can (up to a maximum of 2 Gb).
- HABEdit has a Replace function as well as an enhanced Search function.
HABEdit application uses an innovative layout for its Hex-view that will make it much easier for the user to see the relationship of text to hex.
