A free software suite to create, edit, and compose bitmap images more>> A free software suite to create, edit, and compose bitmap images

ImageMagick can read, write, and convert images in a large variety of formats. Images can be cropped, colors can be changed, various effects can be applied, images can be rotated and combined, and text, polygons, lines, ellipses and Bezier curves can be a
ImageMagick is free software: it is delivered with full source code and can be freely used, copied, modified and distributed. Its license is compatible with the GPL. It runs on all major operating systems.
Most of the functionality of ImageMagick can be used interactively from the command line; more often, however, the features are used from programs written in the programming languages C, Ch, C++, Java, Perl, PHP, Python, Ruby, Tcl/Tk, for which ready-made ImageMagick interfaces (PerlMagick, Magick++, PythonMagick, MagickWand for PHP, RMagick, TclMagick, and JMagick) are available. This makes it possible to modify or create images automatically and dynamically.
ImageMagick supports many image formats (over 90) including formats like GIF, JPEG, JPEG-2000, PNG, PDF, PhotoCD, TIFF, and DPX.
Main features:
- Format conversion: convert an image from one format to another (e.g. PNG to JPEG)
- Transform: resize, rotate, crop, flip or trim an image
- Transparency: render portions of an image invisible
- Draw: add shapes or text to an image
- Decorate: add a border or frame to an image
- Special effects: blur, sharpen, threshold, or tint an image
- Animation: create a GIF animation sequence from a group of images
- Text & comments: insert descriptive or artistic text in an image
- Image identification: describe the format and properties of an image
- Composite: overlap one image over another
- Montage: juxtapose image thumbnails on an image canvas
- Motion picture support: read and write the common image formats used in digital film work
- Image calculator: apply a mathematical expression to an image or image channels
- High dynamic-range images: accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from the brightest direct sunlight to the deepest darkest shadows
- Large image support: read, process, or write mega- and giga-pixel image sizes
- Threads of execution support: ImageMagick is thread safe and many internal algorithms are already threaded to take advantage of speed-ups offered by the dual and quad-core processor technologies

GraphicsMagick 1.1.7 Q8

GraphicsMagick 1.1.7 Q8

GraphicsMagick will allow you to manipulate over 88 image formats more>>
GraphicsMagick will allow you to manipulate over 88 image formats GraphicsMagick is the swiss army knife of image processing. GraphicsMagick provides a robust collection of tools and libraries which support reading, writing, and manipulating an image in over 88 major formats including important formats like DPX, JPEG, PNG, JPEG-2000, GIF, PDF, SVG, and TIFF.
GraphicsMagick supports huge images on systems that support large files, and has been tested with gigapixel-size images. GraphicsMagick can create new images on the fly, making it suitable for building dynamic Web applications.
GraphicsMagick may be used to resize, rotate, sharpen, color reduce, or add special effects to an image and save the result in the same or differing image format.
Image processing operations are available from the command line, as well as through C, C++, Perl, or Windows COM programming interfaces. Extensions are available from third-parties to support programming in Python, Tcl, and Ruby. With some modification, language extensions for ImageMagick may be used.
GraphicsMagick is originally derived from ImageMagick 5.5.2. Since the branch from ImageMagick, many improvements have been made (see news) by many authors using an open development model.
GraphicsMagick is available for free, may be used to support both open and proprietary applications, and may be redistributed without fee.
Main features:
- Convert an image from one format to another (e.g. TIFF to JPEG)
- Resize, rotate, sharpen, color reduce, or add special effects to an image
- Create a montage of image thumbnails
- Create a transparent image suitable for use on the Web
- Turn a group of images into a GIF animation sequence
- Create a composite image by combining several separate images
- Draw shapes or text on an image
- Decorate an image with a border or frame
- Describe the format and characteristics of an image

imgSeek 0.8.6.1fc4

imgSeek 0.8.6.1fc4

imgSeek - A photo collection manager and viewer with content-based search more>>
imgSeek is a viewer and photo collection manager with content-based search and many other features.
The query is expressed either as a rough sketch painted by the user or as another image you supply (or an image in your collection).
The searching algorithm makes use of multiresolution wavelet decomposition of the query and database images.
Main features:
- You simply draw a rough sketch of what you want to find and imgSeek displays for you a thumbnail view of the best matches.
- Query images similar to one in your collection by double-clicking on its thumbnail.
- Group your photos by similarity for easy browsing. You may also have them clustered automatically by color, date (group events automatically using an adaptive clustering algorithm for time differences), filename or image features.
- Edit metadata (description, camera, lens, etc) for every image, and use them on the HTML albums generated or for searching photos. You can also use custom metadata fields.
- EXIF and IPTC data found on JPEG/TIFF files are automatically imported. (Read-only support)
- Advanced command-line utility to scan for new files, query for similar images and show image metadata. (You may use it on your cron system for example)
- Transform images or batches automatically: Place text captions, change brightness, contrast, blur, etc. Apply lossless rotations automatically if jpegtran is available.
- Generate HTML albums for the entire collection, a given directory or similarity group
- Advanced keyword searching for metadata.
- Find all duplicate images on your collection with the parameters you specify. (dimensions, filesize, filename, similarity, average luminance)
- Organize and browse pictures in groups with an easy drag & drop interface. You can also perform advanced queries on groups (eg.: show me all images that belong to group A and B but not group C)
- Support for multiple volumes of pictures. You may assign all images on a CD to a given Volume
- Automatic thumbnail generation and caching. Using this standard, which is also used by Gimp, Nautilus/Gnome, Rox Desktop, gThumb and others.
- Supported file formats are jpg, gif, bmp, png, xbm, and pnm. If you have ImageMagick installed, imgSeek will also support over 87 image formats.
- Remember the way images should be displayed: If you rotate an image 270 degrees, imgSeek will remember it and do the same the next time you view this image.
- Export/Import metadata to/from CSV files and export a batch or your collection to XML files, which can be later parsed by some other tool to generate whatever you want.
- Rename a file or batch of files automatically: Replace strings, convert to upper/lowercase, append a string, create numbered series, etc.
- Add images to the database from a directory recursively.
- User friendly interface that remembers typed queries and drawn sketches for later usage.
- Slideshow for a given directory, whole collection or for a chosen group of similar images. You can also delete and organize images in groups with hotkeys.
- Browse images by thumbnail and view them on a preview window.
- Browse your system files for images, and bookmark your favorite directories. While browsing, you may query for similar images on your collection.

ImDa 1.1.4

ImDa 1.1.4

A very useful application that will help you add tags to your pictures. more>> A very useful application that will help you add tags to your pictures.

ImDa is an useful image tagging software application (without using metadata). All image processing is taken care of by ImageMagick through JMagick.
Main features:
- Images and tags database
- Search in database, export / import database
- Find duplicate images
- Thumbnails
- Store images in a zip
- File path to clipboard
- Sort images on harddisk
System requirements:
- Java Runtime Environment 1.5+
- ImageMagick

Enhancements:
- Added: Imagelist Popupmenu now has the option to remove files from the db, works on multiple selection too.
- Added: The ability to add a comment to a tag. Comment will be shown as a tooltip when hovering over tag in upper taglist in Add tab.
- Added: A small square in the upper left corner of the thumbimage shows if it is selected. This square doesnt show up on a thumb montage image.
- Added: Rename file has become Rename file(s). Main difference being that when multiple images are selected the user is asked for the new names according to the following syntax @ . Which means that somewhere in the new name the user has to place @ which the program will replace by a number. For example: New name entered : This is the @3th image will result in -> This is the 001th image, This is the 002th image
- Changed: When a tag is added to the tree on the File Sort tab, the program first checks whether or not the tag is already present. If so, nothing is added and the user is notified.
- Changed: Trying to create thumbs when there aint enough memory for it is now handled properly. Program will clear the thumbqueue and removing some from memory to free space for program usage.
- Changed: The Add all button on the File Sort tab now is Add typed, so it adds the text typed in the textfield nex to it.
- Changed: Replaced the left/right click on items in tag list on the Tag Lookup tab with drag and drop functionality.
- Changed: Program now checks whether or not a directory has any subdirectories before asking if it should search in them too. The way Clean DB handles missing files. Old way: Ask where to look, check that directory for a file with same name and verify crc and store the paths of the images. If no match found, check all the files in the directory for a crc match. If no match found, ask where to look next or if file needs to be removed from db. Next file, first look in the same directory as last time. If none found start as normal. New way: Ask where to look, check that directory for a file with same name and verify crc and store the paths of the images. If no match found, check all the files in the directory for a crc match and store the crcs. If no match found, ask where to look next or if file needs to be removed from db. Next file, first look in the same directory as last time. If none found check if crcs have been stored, if so check if theres a crc match. Whats the difference? If a lot of files have been renamed and moved checking will be easier without sacrificing speed in case no files were renamed.
- Fixed: Mass add/edit is now properly enabled/disabled when images selected by clicking on the thumbs (ctrl-click works on thumbs also).
- Fixed: Deleting thumbs now works properly again when thumbs were made for the Duplicate methods.
- Fixed: Various things in the Tree of the File Sort tab.
- Fixed: Added some checks here and there to make sure nothing wrong happens with database (largely because of the next fixed).
- Fixed: If a tag ended up corrupt (fe. null) it will be replaced by BROKEN and user will be informed about this and what to do next. The null situation could occur when Rename tag was selected and cancelled when the input dialog is shown.
- Fixed: Choose directory dialog now opens more quickly under windows ( (not existing) floppy drive caused slowdown).
- Fixed: Home directory and chosen directory are now avaible in the choose directory dialog under windows.
- Fixed: Apperently Import DB wasnt adjusted to the new way the DB is handled, it is now.
- Fixed/Changed: Delete multiple files, works different/better now.
- Fixed: Images are sorted properly in the imagelist.

EKD 1.4-1

EKD 1.4-1

Post-production software for videos and images more>> Post-production software for videos and images

EKD (EnKoDeur-Mixeur) was firstly maked only for animation encodings in divx, mpeg1 or motion jpeg format, then it advanced to propose post-productions operations for the animated files and for the pictures. About the pictures, EKD makes treatment by pack (that means it can work easily with one or more pictures).
The Egonomic is one of the master words which charaterize this freeware. So the using is really simple, because everything is explained in the graphic interface. EKD has been created for the user confort.
EKD was born from specifical needs of an amateur short film project, then it was naturally added features non directly linked with this project. EKD offers some interesting possibilities, as the video file encoding, the pictures pack convertion into animated files, the compositing, the chroma key ... the sequence edit. In fact, EKD is in the same time a software treating the pictures and the video files.
EKD application was designed to help you edit and encode video sequences.
Whats a video in fact ? Pictures that succeeds the other with a specifical frequency (24 pictures per second, for example), we see this like a movement, that is an animated picture. Treating picture by EKD, thats give them the possibilty to transform into video file. EKD insnt a freeware really maked for the pictures treatment or the video retouches, but for the two in the same time ! It is essentially for those who want to make picture and video treatements with a simple method, without use a too harder software.
System requirements:
- Mplayer-Mencoder, FFmpeg, FFmpeg2theora, ImageMagick, Python, Python Imaging Library, Numpy, PyQt4
NOTE
Read this before installing EKD.

Enhancements:
- A very big update has been made:
- The application uses now the graphic library PyQt4 (EKD wins in ergonomics while remaining very easy to use).
- Two new persons joined the project (it is now about a small team of development).
- New features appeared (and those who already existed were improved).
- The project has a new web site (and forum).
