Enumerate SQL Server instances is a useful tool that searches for installed SQL Server instances on the local network using the SQLBrowseConnect API.
There are other ways of enumerating the list of installed SQL Server instances, but this method is relatively fast and consistently returns the list registered instances.
NOTE: If you are using MSDE, you must set EnableNetworkProtocols to on before your MSDE instance can be found using this method. In MSDE SP3, this option is turned off by default for security reasons.

Instance Monitor Library is designed to help the software developers to protect applications from unauthorized multiple launches. The Instance Monitor library is controlling the number of the running instances of an application under local network. It is great way to increase sales of commercial software.
The library is monitoring the local network for all running software instances, using a unique instance identifier (usually Order ID). If the number of running instances is over the license limit, your software can prevent the starting of an instance violating the license agreement or it can terminate any of the instances running. Also, your software can warn an end-user about the license agreement violation and recommend purchasing additional licenses. As a rule, this kind of a message works pretty well. Most of the customers purchase a single one license, but they are using it within many PCs simultaneously. Just think about it, how many licenses have not been bought, because of the fact, that your software can be simultaneously started on many stations freely. How many purchases have been doomed because of it? You might be able to increase your profit in case if the number of started instances of your software is limited with the number of licenses bought.

Usage: EndProcess [/T timeout] process
Command line parameters:
/T Try to close the process before killing it. The timeout parameter controls how long you want to wait for the process to exit before forcibly terminating it. Specify timeout value in seconds. If /T switch is not specified the default timeout 1 second is used.
process Name of the process to terminate. Enter name as it appears in the Image Name column on the Windows Task Managers Processes tab page. For example to terminate all instances of Notepad run:

or, to wait 6 seconds between trying to close the program and forcibly terminating it:

An easy way for simultaneous spectral analysis of several audio signals. more>> Based on the technology of FaderWorks to handle multiple dependent instances of the same plug-in, MultiInspector extends the usage of spectrum analyzers especially in multitrack environments by providing an easy way for simultaneous spectral analysis of several audio signals.
The first instance of MultiInspector behaves like a standard spectral analyzer. Additional instances automatically send their spectral analysis result to all other instances of MultiInspector. By default, every editor window of MultiInspector shows the same content, but there are numerous options for customizing the display content so that different views of the audio signals can be achieved. After opening all necessary plug-in instances it is sufficient to leave just the editor windows open you really need.
MultiInspector provides an FFT mode for spectral analysis with several options for FFT size and window selection. There are different viewing modes for overlapping and stacked display.
In addition to the FFT mode, MultiInspector incorporates a standard third octave frequency analyzer. The center frequencies of the bands are based on the ISO 266:1997 standard (20 Hz to 20 kHz). Pink noise will appear flat in the frequency spectrum with the default slope setting of 3 dB per octave. MultiInspector contains a switchable high resolution mode for low frequency bands. Depending on the viewing mode the width and height of the level bars are adjusted according to the current number of signals that are selected for display.
Besides the multi-instance functionality, you can still use MultiInspector as a "normal" spectrum analyzer by just pressing the solo button of the current instance.
MultiInspector supports up to 16 instances at any sample rate from 32 kHz up to 192 kHz.<<less

Svchost Process Analyzer is a quick and easy freeware product that inspects your Svchost.exe process. The Svchost.exe process, which is visible in Windows Task Manager, is often misused by spyware or network worms in order to conceal their activities. Svchost Process Analyzer recognizes these suspicious processes, which hide within an Svchost instance. An example is the infamous Configer (or Conficker) worm. The genuine Svchost.exe is an important system process that is shipped with Windows XP and Vista, and is located in the C:WindowsSystem32 folder. When a Windows computer boots, Svchost.exe executes dynamic link libraries (DLLs) found in the Windows Registry as services. There can be several instances of Svchost.exe running at the same time. The process description is "Generic Host Process for Win32 Services." This means that other services use Svchost to run their own executables as Svchost instances. Trojans and other sorts of malware slip into the Svchost process and work through it. Since Svchost is an important Windows process, even malicious Svchost activities are often not blocked by currently available security software and firewalls.
Svchost Process Analyzer also detects trojan horses, worms or other malware with slightly altered names, such as svhost.exe, scvhost.exe or _svchost.exe.
