GPSMonitor graphs the azimuth, elevation and signal strength of all visible satellites, and displays human-readable data parsed from several types of NMEA string received from a USB GPS. The GPS uses an emulated serial port for communication running at 4800 baud. Graphed data is saved so it is visible when the program is run again later. It is able to show a Google map of your current location.
Parsed messages are:
GSV: Satellites in view.
RMC: Recommended minimum specific GPS/Transit data.
GGA: System fix data.
GLL: Geographic position, latitude and longitude.
GSA: Dilutioon of Precision (DOP) and active satellites.
More message types may be added based on user requests since many GPS models have different feature and message sets.

It provides navigational data update once per second, decoding NMEA sentences: $GPGGA (Global Positioning System Fix Data), $GPGSA (DOP and Active Satellites), $GPGSV (Satellites in View), $GPGLL (Geographic position), $GPRMC (Recommended Minimum Specific GNSS Data) and $GPVTG (Course over Ground and Ground Speed). KMLCSV Converter is a smart, easy-to-use and reliable tool that enables you to convert the KML file generated from Google Earth (free version) into a formatted CSV file (and vice versa).
This CSV file can then be uploaded into your Garmin GPS by using Garmin POI Loader, which can be downloaded for free.
This allows you to plot all the custom point of interests (POI) with Google Earth first. Then, you can transfer all the custom POIs into your Garmin GPS.
Basically, this tool parses out name, description, longitude and latitude from a KML file. Then, it formats the data so that the Garmin POI Loader knows how to read the information.
Finally, it saves the formatted data into a CSV file. The description field of the KML file is an optional field and it is placed in the comment field of the CSV file.

Balloon Browser is a software that allows you navigate over internet.
Instead of waiting for the one true geo-notation and markup standard, Balloon Browser tries to parse a variety of common coordinate notations. Ambiguous information like a missing hemisphere identifier are reconciled by looking at the context or the probability of a certain location.
Thanks to the GPS system and low-cost devices that can be used by everybody, the number of websites tagging their content with geo-coordinates (using latitude and longitude) is increasing rapidly.
If you know great web sites not mentioned here that can already be used or should be supported in Balloon Browser please let me know.
Suggestions about other programs beside Google Earth that should be supported are also welcome.
