An approach to the trajectory problem used in Problem Solving for Kids. more>> This paper (A LOOK AT REAL-WORLD PROBLEM SOLVING) presents an example of a real world problem that addresses several important points in the problem solving process. The example problem involves the trajectory of a projectile. The problem is to reach a desired point by selecting a launch angle. This problem has a wide variety of real applications: rocket and missile launching, targeting and intercepts, satellite orbit transfers and rendezvous, numerical optimization, polynomial root finding, and solving nonlinear equations. The mathematics needed to solve the problem are not too involved - only algebra and trigonometry. The process of solving the problem, however, is at times detailed and tedious. But, this is a concept that needs to be taught: real-world problems are not necessarily easy. Before looking at the solution, we will examine the real-world problem solving process.<<less

An approach to the problem studied in A Look at Real-World Problem Solving. more>> In our paper, A LOOK AT REAL-WORLD PROBLEM SOLVING, a projectile trajectory problem was studied. In that paper, a closed-form expression (an exact equation) to the trajectory problem (required angle to reach a point) was found. Closed-form solutions are rarely possible in the real-world. We usually resort to solving our problems numerically, using a computer. In this work (ANOTHER LOOK AT REAL-WORLD PROBLEM SOLVING), we look again at the projectile problem, but the solution emphasis is on iterative, numerical solutions. Both one-dimensional and two-dimensional solution methods are discussed, as are some of the checks that must be made and the pitfalls that should be avoided when using such methods. For classroom purposes, examples of potential applications of the trajectory equations are discussed.<<less

LOOK can read two independent real or complex signals of any type.
LOOK can generate real or complex signals from an arbitrary equation.
LOOK is intended for use with uniformly sampled data. That is, the sampling interval of the x axis (time, frequency or whatever) must be uniform throughout the data file. Non-uniformly sampled data is NOT supported except for the X-Y plot case.
The program can perform various signal processing operations:
1.Fourier transforms and inverse Fourier transforms .
2.Windowing -- Cosine, Cosine-squared, Rectangular, Kaiser or notch.
3.Linear transforms -- add a constant, multiply by a constant, multiply by a complex exponential or multiply by a sinusoid

Look Up is a gadget that lets you look up words from dictionaries, wikipedia, stock quotes, and translations.
Once you set up dictionary in options, you can search any text from internet. Parser supports basic string match and regular expression, you can also use multiple input strings.
Here are some example of using Look Up:

i.Look is a software that allows you search, find and resize files.
But it also does a number of other useful things that I ended up tacking on to this application instead of having lots of separate downloads.
Enhancements:
- Added dragndrop capability to the thumb nail viewer.
- Made the thumbnail layout smarter by leaving less whitespace around.
- Fixed the rgb colour components display when in display depth other than 24.
- Added mouse cursor position to the magnify tool. It also shows you to offset to the last position that the mouse was still for more than 3 seconds. Useful for measuring stuff on screen.
