MathPlayer 2.1

MathPlayer 2.1

MathPlayer enables Microsoft Internet Explorer to display mathematical notation in web pages more>>
MathPlayer enables Microsoft Internet Explorer to display mathematical notation in web pages.
MathPlayer is based on MathML technology and requires Internet Explorer for Windows version 6.0 and later. We make MathPlayer available for free in order to foster the adoption of MathML in the math, science, and education communities.
MathPlayer is a tool that was designed for enhancing the displaying of mathematical notation in Internet Explorer. Just as HTML is the computer language in which web pages are written, the math in a web page is written in the MathML language.
When you browse to a web page containing MathML, Internet Explorer gives it to MathPlayer to display as standard math notation such as you would find in a textbook.
Almost all of MathPlayers special features are accessed by placing the mouse pointer over an equation and clicking the right mouse button. This brings up MathPlayers menu. Most of the commands operate on the clicked-on equation. In addition, there are commands to find out MathPlayers version and to visit the MathPlayer web site.
MathPlayers right-click menu
Almost all of MathPlayers special features are accessed by placing the mouse pointer over an equation and clicking the right mouse button. This brings up MathPlayers menu. Most of the commands operate on the clicked-on equation. In addition, there are commands to find out MathPlayers version and to visit the MathPlayer web site.
Copying equations into other programs
The Copy MathML command puts the MathML description of the equation on the clipboard. The MathML text can be pasted into a text editor (eg, Notepad), an HTML editor (eg, Dreamweaver, FrontPage), or computer algebra system (eg, Maple, Mathematica). If your favorite calculation or mathematical program doesnt accept MathML, contact the publisher of that software package and request that MathML support be added.
Opening an equation in MathType or WebEQ
The Open with MathType command on the Commands sub-menu will open the equation in a new MathType window. The command will be grayed out if MathType is not installed on your computer or if the equation does not contain MathType information. The Open with WebEQ command will open the equation in a new WebEQ window. The command will be grayed out if WebEQ is not installed on your computer.
MathZoom/Unzoom
Choose the MathZoom? command to get a closer look at the equation. This can be handy to view small scripts and accents. To bring the equation back down to normal size, choose Unzoom (the MathZoom command changes to Unzoom on a zoomed equation). A single mouse click in an equation will toggle the zoomed state. Clicking in a zoomed equation while holding the Shift key down will unzoom all equations in the page. Warning: If the equation contains interactive parts that respond to mouse clicks, zoom/unzoom can only be performed using the menu commands.
Speak Expression
The Speak Expression command causes the equation to be spoken through your computers sound system using Design Sciences math-to-speech algorithms. This requires that you have a MathPlayer-compatible text-to-speech engine installed on your computer.

DragMath 0.7.5

DragMath 0.7.5

DragMath is a free "drag and drop" equation editor. more>> DragMath is a free "drag and drop" equation editor. It is a Java applet which can simply run within a web browser on most computers.
The editor lets users build up mathematical expressions in a traditional two dimensional way, and then output the results in a correctly formed syntax. This is not so easy: mathematical notation contains some ambiguities. Still, we appear to be stuck with traditional notation for the foreseeable future, see for example this article for some comments on notation. This gives some idea of the design of DragMath.
The supplied output formats are MathML, LaTeX, Maple, Maxima. It is also possible to convert the expression to almost any user defined style by creating an XML file with the correct syntax data in it. Details of how to do this are included in the documentation. Although mathematics is less dependent on language than many things, the applet loads a language file which makes it possible to translate DragMath into other languages.

Amaya 11.1

Amaya 11.1

Amaya is a Web editor, i.e. a tool used to create and update documents directly on the Web. more>>

Amaya 11.1 offers you a tool for Web editor. With this application, you can create and update documents directly on the Web.

Browsing features are seamlessly integrated with the editing and remote access features in a uniform environment. This follows the original vision of the Web as a space for collaboration and not just a one-way publishing medium.
Work on Amaya started at W3C in 1996 to showcase Web technologies in a fully-featured Web client. The main motivation for developing Amaya was to provide a framework that can integrate as many W3C technologies as possible. It is used to demonstrate these technologies in action while taking advantage of their combination in a single, consistent environment.
Amaya first started as an HTML + CSS style sheets editing software. Since that time it was extended to support XML and an increasing number of XML applications such as the XHTML family, MathML, and SVG. It allows all those vocabularies to be edited simultaneously in compound documents.

Major Features:

  1. Amaya lets users both browse and author Web pages: Using Amaya you can create Web pages and upload them onto a server. Authors can create a document from scratch, they can browse the web and find the information they need, copy and paste it to their pages, and create links to other Web sites. All this is done in a straightforward and simple manner, and actions are performed in a single consistent environment. Editing and browsing functions are integrated seamlessly in a single tool.
  2. Amaya is able to work on several documents at a time: Several (X)HTML, native MathML (.mml) and SVG (.svg) documents can be displayed and edited at a time.
  3. Amaya helps authors create hypertext links: The editor helps you create and text out links to other documents on the Web from the document you currently are working on. You can view the links and get a feel for how the information is interconnected. This feature is not limited to HTML anchors. With XLink, any MathML and SVG element can be a link too.
  4. Amaya includes a collaborative annotation application: Annotations are external comments, notes, remarks that can be attached to any Web document or a selected part of the document.
  5. Amaya maintains a consistent internal document model adhering to the DTD:
  • Amaya always represents the document internally in a structured way consistent with the Document Type Definition (DTD). A properly structured document enables other tools to further process the data safely.
  • Amaya allows you to display the document structure at the same time as the formatted view, which is portrayed diagrammatically on the screen.

Convert DOC and RTF formats to well-formed XML. more>> W2XML software is a Word-to-XML conversion application that will convert DOC and RTF formats to well-formed XML. It is completely scalable and allows for custom XML exporting by allowing you to apply custom XSLTs to modify the standard Microsoft Word(R) output. W2XML also supports the conversion of Microsoft(R) Equation objects to MathML! The additional support for converting Microsoft (R) Equation objects into MathML (a W3C standard for describing mathematic formulas in a format easily transmittable over the web) augments W2XMLs existing conversion capabilities unmatched by other Word-to-XML conversion tools.
Produce Docbook-Compliant Output
The full version of the software will allow you to output Docbook-compliant XML (http://www.docbook.org/) from most Word(R) documents. This software will help you convert your legacy data for use within the Docbook framework with very minimal effort.
Now Convert to MathML 2.0
Now you can convert Microsoft Equation objects used in Word to MathML 2.0! W2XML makes it easy to convert your legacy Word documents to MathML markup, which will allow for greater flexibility across multiple applications and for publishing the equations to the web.
Use Word(R) as an XML Editor
You can also export to practically any schema you wish by using W2XMLs abilities to capture named styles within Word(R). This ability turns Word(R) into an XML editor. All you need to do is create a template (*.dot) within Word(R) and create styles with the same names to match your Schema or DTD, then apply the styles to each area as you are authoring in Word(R).
