Free musepack software for windows

Musepack is an audio compression format with a strong emphasis on high quality.
Its not lossless, but it is designed for transparency, so that you wont be able to hear differences between the original wave file and the much smaller MPC file.
It is based on the MPEG-1 Layer-2 / MP2 algorithms, but has rapidly developed and vastly improved and is now at an advanced stage in which it contains heavily optimized and patentless code.
MusePack is currently the preferred format for audiophiles and strongly recommended for everyone.
Try to use also MPC Batch Encoder. A Windows frontend for the MusePack encoder and decoder, for Tag and for ReplayGain.

Fixes:
1. In some rare cases, the output file would have an incorrect duration (4 missing samples) when encoding some very long tracks.
2. There was a glitch at the end of the track when encoding from a 24-bit source through pipes.
Misc changes:
1. --xlevel is now used by default. Use --noxlevel to override (--longhelp shows the full command-line options).
2. Removed "Unstable/Experimental" flag writing. The encoder now stores the profile info like all stable versions do.
The new version has been tested on these CPUs: AMD K6-2, AMD Thunderbird, AMD Athlon XP1700+, Athlon 64, and a Pentium 4.

Mp3tag 2.44 is a utility to edit Tags of MP3, Ogg Vorbis, Musepack, Monkey's Audio, FLAC, and WavPack files. It can rename files based on the tag information, replace characters or words from tags and filenames, import/export tag information, and create playlists. The program supports online freedb database lookups for selected files, allowing you to automatically gather proper tag information for selected files or CDs.

- frontend doesnt crash when output directory cannot be created.
- some small internal improvements (code clean-up).

MAREO (dizziness in spanish) is a special command line encoder for CD rippers, that has the ability to execute multiple encoders for each track ripped, allowing to encode to multiple music formats (MP3, FLAC, etc) at the same time.
Once properly configured, a CD ripper, after each successful ripped track, would call MAREO as if it where a command line (CLI) encoder, whom in turn would execute all the encoders it has been instructed to, passing them the required parameters such as source and destination file, album author, album name, track number, track name, album date, album genre, etc.
It can also be used to execute pre and post-processor programs, like WaveGain and MP3Gain respectively. And is also capable of understanding/handling "multi-file-generator" encoders, like OptimFROG and WavPack. It is usually used, for example, to rip to FLAC (for archival) and MP3 (for MP3 Player use), or to MPC (for PC playing) and to Ogg Vorbis (for portable playing).
