NewsWolf is a tool that searches for public access news servers in specific news group. On selecting a newsgroup of interest, NewsWolf will directly connect to your default news server and begin importing the selected newsgroups article headers.
The application will expand news server names from downloaded article headers and check them automatically. The result lists of news servers include their details and whether they accept non-member postings.
This program is an excellent companion to your newsreader, greatly extending the speed and access to free newsgroups.

NewsParrot allows you to search for free news servers, test them for speed, the number of Newsgroups and the artical density, before enabling the user to browse the results within the program or use a default news reader. Newsparrot enables you to search for new open news servers, with a few servers added to the program you can find more news servers, this process also tests the servers to see if these are accessible. This multi-threaded program generates a list of tested servers, which can be saved. When you select a specific newsgroup of interest, the program connects to a requested server to import the selected newsgroup article headers.

NomadNews 2.1 is a powerful tool which consists of all features of a newsgroup browser with those of an automated post retriever. A true multi-threaded 32-bit application that spawns up to 8 simultaneous Internet connections (streams) to each news server or newsgroup to download multiple files simultaneously. The latest version of Nomad News also decodes yEnc encoded postings (along with all other encoding methods like MIME, UU).

Progress tool-bars show the status of each connection along with constantly updating statistics for bytes and bits per second in the status bar. A "Session Log" window shows exactly what's going on behind the scenes, in real-time.

6. User-defined tagging rules allow you to specify what tag is assigned to each header based on the article's size, subject, author, date, filename etc. Rules support wild-card expressions, the logical AND and NOT operators and allow you to hide headers altogether (banned authors/subjects etc.).

Enhancements:

• yEnc: "Y" Encoded binaries are now automatically identified, recombined and decoded on download.
• Added concept of "Mark-as-Read" along with tool-bar buttons for it. "Mark-as-Read" is the same as choosing "Hide Selected" with "Never show the headers again in any newsgroup".
• Added "Jump to previous viewed" and "Jump to next viewed" tool-bar buttons.
• Fixed problem where hyper-text links were not correctly tagged when viewing text articles.
• Sped up Newsgroup window's initialization after header retrieval completes (better response when downloading > 10,000 headers).
• Added a "Group Actions" option to limit the maximum number of headers to download from a newsgroup.
• Now correctly reposition to top article after a "Group Actions" sort.
• Fixed problem where posting replies to articles that had attachments sometimes failed.
• Now "remember" whether the "Log" and "Newsgroups" windows were open or closed on program termination and copy that state the next time the application is run.
• Fixed problem where some base64 encoded ".gif" files did not "unroll" in the "Image View" window.
• Fixed problem where not all ".jpg" files showed up in "Image View" window.

NewsBeaver is an application that will let you view and download newsgroup pictures.
NewsBeaver can be run without saving anything to your hard disk, this makes it safe if you dont want to store anything on your computer. However NewsBeaver can also save images to any folder you choose so that you can view pictures later.
NewsBeaver has an integrated Picture Viewer so that you can view images as you download them.
There is no documentation for NewsBeaver yet so just download it and give it a try. Its not very difficult to work out. You need access to a news server to use NewsBeaver.
