NEWT Professional is a network inventory scanner for network administrators that does not require to install any agents on the remote machines. Newts project is a modern, actively-maintained implementation of notesfiles, a concept which is half Usenet and half bulletin board.

Notesfiles were developed in the later 1970s at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign; Newts attempts to closely resemble the functionality of the Unix port of notesfiles from UIUC, and is compatible with the data files used by that port.

Newts is written for Unix-like systems, and is known to run on various flavors of Linux, Mac OS X, and probably most other Unixes.

Future versions of Newts will include a separate daemon to manage multiple local and network connections, additional backends, and additional clients.

Whats New in This Release:

· Various memory-related and segfault bugfixes in the utilities and main client.
· This release contains a first draft of a new client API, but that API is not yet recommended for public use.

Pol-IP is a complete traffic control system for a Linux NAT box with multiplataform clients. It has a user-friendly wizard to config the system in which you can add, delete or chage, clients or groups bandwith, in a hierarchical structure. The clients get clean statistics about their actual speed and their bandwith.

Polipd runs a server application on a masquerading server. It has two basic functions, config the kernel 2.4 series traffic control functions and mantain a statistics services of the clients bandwiths on a multicast address. The multiplataforms clients get the statistics from the multicast address and display them in a progress bar.

lib378 is a library for predictive text input. The API is very simple and provides dictionary autocompletion and both partial and full matching.

The project can be used to get text input from input devices with few keys (like cellphones).

Whats New in This Release:

Lizard is a tile-based graphical interface to NetHack and SlashEM.

Lizard is my own personalized variant of the newt interface. It always shares the latest newt codebase while adding a few of my own patches that increase user experience (in my opinion). Lizard is how I play NetHack or SlashEM.

Additions to Lizard over tha vanilla NE.W.T:

· Dark rooms are a different tile to unexplored rooms. So exploring an area like the gnomish mines is much less painful.
· Passageways are shown. Passageways on the side of corridors are visible. Again this is a change that allows you to better judge which areas you have not yet explored.
· Line of sight, you now have a visible line of sight and are able to easily see which areas might have monsters that you cannot actually see.
· Brads Pit, a minor patch of my own, for amusement value only
· Chess Moves, you can set the speed of monster movement as well as player movement. When set to walk each monster will move individually as if you were watching a move for move animated playback of a game of chess.
· All of the above mentioned changes work for the tty/console view as well.
