Nemo Fast Track is essentially a file manager that will allow you to search many files or directories very fast. Under the hood this is done by creating a local database which contains the information from all files and directories from any kind of storage device (Hard disk, CDROM, Flash etc.) and then a search will be done in the database rather than the storage device.
You can easily locate any type of file through file names, folders, date, size and finally by content if the file is online. Search capabilities can be extended to within ZIP files. You can also browse your devices, like CDs, without the CDs.
Its preview panel supports common file types(media player files, image files, plain text, web pages, zip files, etc.) and the most common electronic document formats (PDF, MS Word, MS Excel, etc.). You can also carry out a few basic editing operations on them.
In addition this application can make backups of your precious documents automatically and allows you keep several versions of your documents as changes are made to them and therefore lets you undo changes made to them at several levels if need be.
As a file manager it supports bookmarking and commenting of offline files. Moreover it also allows you to encrypt files and lock folders with a password in a snap.
Several other gadgets and enhancements are also available like a desktop calendar/memo and a utility to secure your sensible drives by hiding them from Windows Explorer.
Unfortunately the program does not yet come with a detailed help file but with a quick start facility that will put you on track in no time.
Note that this is a lite version of the full program that is yet to be released. Try it ounce and you will most probably not want to use the Windows built-in search again!
