MIDI Normalizer 1.0.0.5
MidiDesigns MIDI Normalizer is a batch editor for midi files more>>
If you have hundreds of midi files and find it annoying that, when playing the files, the volume level is very different for every file, MIDI Normalizer automates the process of leveling the volume, just like that normalizer you already have for normalizing your MP3 collection.
Besides normalizing, MIDI Normalizer can carry out the following tasks:
- Compressing - I found out that it isnt always enough to just normalize the file. In some cases, a midifile has velocity values between 60 and 100, easy to normalize to values between 80 and 120. But if the velocity values are ranging from lets say 20 to 127, then theres no room left for normalizing, and all low values will stay too low. The solution: compressing the velocity values. So theres a build in compressor, that can first compress all velocity values before normalizing is applied.
- Automix - If you spend months of work to remix your files for your keyboard X, but now you bought a brand new "super deluxe" keyboard Y, only to find out that all guitar sounds are too low, and all bass sounds are too loud, then you should take a closer look at the automix function. It allows you to add or subtract a predefined volume value per instrument. This function will also make you happy if youre playing in a combo with f.i. a bass player, guitar player and a singer, and therefore all bass and guitar tracks should be muted from all midifiles.
- ChannelMute - Speaking about a singer, lots of midifiles do contain a lead vocal track on MIDI channel 4. It would be very useful to be able to mute channel 4 to get rid of these vocal tracks. That is possible with the "ChannelMute" function.
- Extracting lyrics - If the midifile contains songlyrics, you can extract these lyrics and save them to a text file.
- Creating tracksheets - The software collects information about every midifile while scanning the files. You can optionally save this information to a textfile.
- Creating playlists - When you have added midifiles from different folders, you can easely save the created filelist to a playlist. Very useful when you want to play a list created by yourself. Even more useful when you have processed your files, and afterwards would like to redo the processing because the process settings were not optimal.
- Built in MIDI player - Theres a basic midiplayer included to play the selected files from the filelist.
WAVNormalizer 1.0.4 Build 205
Maximizes volume level in multiple wav-files. more>> Maximizes volume level in multiple wav-files.
The WavNormalizer application was designed to be a program that will maximize the volume of (normalize) Microsoft wave (.wav) files, so that they all play at the same volume level. The .wav file has to be 8bit or 16bit wave in PCMformat in any sample rate, mono or stereo (which is actually a normal wave in normal format).
WavNormalizer normalizes .wav files into themselves, therefore no extra hard disk space is needed. However, if your system crashes (or if you have a power outtage) during the normalization process, the wave file willmost likely be corrupted. WavNormalizer is quite fast (milliseconds in most cases... but minutes could be required for files 800Mb or so in length), so the risk is really quite small when compared to the benefits that you achieve.
To be safe, though, you might want to copy cherished/irreplaceable .wav files to a "working" directory as you modify them, just in case. This action, of course, falls under the "common sense" directive as mandated by the ABC (Active Brain Cell) branch of life itself.
Enhancements:
- Now you really can minimize program while process.

MSU Noise Estimator 0.1 is an ideal tool for anyone who has to work with audio a great deal. It is actually a free MSU VQM plugin for noise level estimation. It includes implementation of three most popular algorithms for measurement of noise level. By results of job of the metrics the plot of frame-accurate value of noise level is constructed. Final value of the metrics is average arithmetic of all frame-accurate values.
Algorithms:
- MAD - For each frame do HAAR wavelet decomposition. Than evaluate median of HH-component's absolute values. Final value of the metrics is the normalized median.
- Block-Based - Frames are tessellated into a number of 8x8 blocks. Standard deviations of intensity (measures of intensity variation) are computed for all the blocks and sorted. The block with the smallest standard deviation has the least change of intensity. The smaller the standard deviation, the smother the block. The intensity variation of a smooth block may be due to noise, in which the standard deviation of the block is close to that of the Gaussian noise added. Normalized average arithmetic values of 30 % of all blocks with the least values grows is the final value of the metric.
- Spatio-Temporal Gradients - For each frame is doing wavelet decomposition. computing temporal and spatial histograms. The initial estimation of noise level is defined by value at which temporal or spatial histogram achieves the maximal value. The decision of whether to use the spatial or temporal histogram is based on the deviation of the histogram from the Rayleigh distribution. Then this estimation is corrected, using Kolmogorov-Smirnoff test. The normalized corrected estimation is the final value of the metric.
Major Features:
- Completely free!
- Offers three most popular algorithms for measurement of noise level
- MAD
- Block-Based
- Spatio-Temporal Gradients
- Very easy to use

MP3Gain 1.3.4 beta
Analyzes and adjusts mp3 files so that they have the same volume. There is no quality lost more>>
It can then adjust the mp3 files so that they all have the same loudness without any quality loss. This way, you dont have to keep reaching for the volume dial on your mp3 player every time it switches to a new song.
MP3Gain operates in two modes, Track and Album:
Track mode volume-corrects a mix of unrelated songs to a selected level. MP3Gain calculates the volume level for each song individually. It then corrects each song to make its volume level match the Target Volume.
For example, if you have 3 songs that have volume levels of 86, 91 and 89 dB and you use Track Gain to convert them to a Target Volume of 92 dB, they will all be at approximately 92 dB.
Album mode volume-corrects a collection of related songs (as they would appear on a CD, or "album") relative to other collections of songs. Applying Album gain is like adjusting the volume knob once for each CD you put in your CD player. The overall volume of the album is adjusted to the Target Volume, but the volume differences between the mp3s in the album are preserved.
For example, if you have 3 songs that have volume levels of 86, 91 and 89 dB, then the overall volume of this "album" will probably be around 89 dB. If the Target Volume is set to 92 dB, then when you apply Album Gain MP3Gain will increase the volume of each of these songs by +3 dB.
With Album mode, you want some songs to be noticeably quieter than other songs, just like they are on an album. If youre playing a classical CD, you expect the track with the flute solo to be quieter than the track with the big full-orchestra finale. Album mode allows you to correct an entire album while keeping each songs volume level relative to the other songs.
MP3Gain can also make changes based on the peak amplitude of the mp3, ignoring how loud the mp3 actually sounds to the human ear.
This peak adjustment is what most audio programs mean by "normalizing". To differentiate between "peak" normalizing and "loudness" normalizing, I use the term "maximizing" when talking about peak normalizing.
Maximizing can be used to make an mp3 as loud as possible without clipping. This can be useful, but keep in mind that this will not make your mp3s the same volume. In fact, if you maximize every track on a CD, some of the original quiet tracks can become louder than the original loud tracks.
