Linspire is committed exclusively to bringing Desktop Linux to the masses, and realized that an easy-to-use web authoring system was needed for Linux to continue its expansion to the Desktop. Linspire contributes significant capital, expertise, servers, bandwidth, marketing, and other resources to guarantee the continuation and success of the Nvu project. Linspire is pleased to have been able to contract with Daniel Glazman from Disruptive Innovations to be the lead developer and maintainer for the Nvu project. Daniel has been the chief architect for Mozilla Composer and brings a tremendous amount of experience and expertise to the Nvu project. Type in accented letters, international characters or symbols into Firefox or Thunderbird, either simply by using a context menu (there being support for many languages), or quickly by keyboard macro (you can even define your own). For example, the three keystrokes to compose e-circumflex are: e ^ INSERT.
abcTajpu supports the CEN Multilingual European Subset and was developed for European Language Day.
abcTajpu is easy to configure, but is language neutral, so here are some tips on set up. First, after installing, you can context click any internet form and follow the abcTajpu menu to insert any (MES) character. After using a while you might like to add language specific menus - from tools.abcTajpu.abcTajpu tick the checkboxes for the languages you wish to appear in context menus, then click :-) for ok or X to cancel.
Beyond that, power users can open tools.abcTajpu.abcTajpu, and choose the radiobox for the hot key desired and suitable for your system (noting that this takes effect on newly opened windows). With a hot key setup (say you chose [< which means the insert key), you dont need to use the context menu, you can just type in an internet form for example a`INSERT to get a a-grave. (Not all hot keys will work with all systems.)
Finally, for the really keen, macros can also be defined in tools.abcTajpu.abcTajpu, as a means to show the syntax by default a macro for Esperanto speakers is suggested, but a German speaker might choose "ss=%u00df|A[Ee]=%u00c4|ae=%u00e4|O[Ee]=%u00d6|oe=%u00f6|U[Ee]=%u00dc|ue=%u00fc" - now type (three keystrokes) AeINSERT for A umlaut.
