libsynaptics is a library intended to support all upcoming driver versions of the Xorg Synaptics Touch Pad Driver. Programs that want to access the touch pad should make use of this library and will thereby not interfere with each other.

Available parameters can be read and written and the version of the installed driver can be determined. It is still not clear whether libsynaptics will be distributed seperately or within the driver package (which seems to be the better solution to me!).

Whats New in This Release:

A new release of libsynaptics and ksynaptics is now available. This fixes several bugs and breaks backward compatibility with earlier libsynaptics versions. This is why you will have to update both libsynaptics and ksynaptics or keep your current versions.

RackTables is a management framework for rackspace, IP addresses, servers and more!

Installation:

RackTables 0.14.x is the first public release branch. It has been developed and run at a Fedora 5 server, so PHP 5 (and most probably MySQL 5) is a requirement.

· Unpack the tarball and make it web-accessible, e.g. yourcompany.com/racktables or racktables.mysite.org.
· Create a MySQL database and grant some user permissions for it.
· Go into inc directory, copy secret-sample.php to secret.php and modify accordingly.
· Modify inc/config.php, if necessary.
· Edit init-auth.sql and change admin password
· Edit $enterprise in inc/config.php.
· Initialize the database:

MQS (Minimalist Queue Services) is a minimalist queueing system in Free Software. The main purpose is to provide a set of basic methods in order to offer asynchronous messaging for program/application.

Applications can use this type of services in order to store and retrieve message to dedicated queue in the queue services. This permits to prevent direct connection between applications and provides a simple asynchronous communication system.

The MQS Daemon provides a simple set of XML-RPC methods for pushing and getting messages in a specific queue (so you can use the system with any application that can talk XML-RPC). The storing of the queue is in a database (e.g. MySQL, Postgresql...) or in dedicated file(s) (e.g. QDBM). QDBM is the preferred storage.

minidentd provides a tiny IDENT server.

minidentd is a tiny IDENT server that implements RFC 1413. It includes no networking code, leaving it to a super-server. It can be used in embedded systems, and features user-controlled and randomly generated answers.

minidentd reads a series of IDENT requests on stdin and answers them on stdout. It logs what its doing on stderr. The environment variables xLOCALIP and xREMOTEIP, where x is the value of the PROTO environment variable, must contain the IDENT server address and the IDENT client address, respectively.

minidentd does not contact the network directly. Its meant to run under a super-server like tcpserver.

Options
-v : verbose mode. Log queries and replies..
-n : send ERROR : HIDDEN-USER replies if the user has a .ident file in his home directory.
-i : user-defined answers. The first 14 chars of the users .ident file, up to EOF or newline, are used instead of the user name. If the file exists and is empty, send ERROR : HIDDEN-USER. If it doesnt exist, send a normal reply.
-r : send random replies.
-y file : valid with -n or -i. Use file instead of .ident.
-t timeout : close connection after timeout seconds without a client request.

JIU is a library which offers functionality to load, analyze, process and save pixel images. Various file formats are supported, demo applications for the command line and the AWT GUI toolkit are provided too.

Here are some key features of "JIU":

· grayscale (8 and 16 bits),

· Dithering and halftoning (net.sourceforge.jiu.color.dithering): error diffusion dithering (Floyd-Steinberg and various others, user-defined error distribution templates are possible), ordered dithering and clustered-dot dithering (spot functions can be user-defined, in addition to the predefined ones).
· Color reduction (net.sourceforge.jiu.color.reduction): all other color reduction methods that do not belong into either the dithering package or the quantization package. Auto-detect color type (for a given image, determine the smallest image data type that the image can fit into without loss of precision), reduce number of shades of gray, convert grayscale to bilevel images using a threshold value, convert RGB color images to grayscale.
· Various color operations (net.sourceforge.jiu.color): everything that did not fit in one of the subpackages of color. Invert image, compose two images by applying arithmetic operations on two samples.
· Color promotion (net.sourceforge.jiu.color.promotion): convert an image to a type that requires more memory (e.g. a grayscale image to an RGB truecolor image). Promotion is wasteful with resources, but certain operations require specific image types. Example: convolution kernel filtering (e.g. to blur, sharpen) requires grayscale or RGB truecolor. If you want to sharpen a paletted image, you have to promote it to truecolor first.
· Geometry (net.sourceforge.jiu.geometry): Flip, mirror, rotate (in steps of 90 degrees), crop, shear and scale (various filter types for interpolation, including B-Spline, Lanczos(3), Mitchell and others).
· Filters (net.sourceforge.jiu.filters): Convolution kernel filters (including predefined filters like blur, sharpen, edge detection etc., but user-defined filters are possible as well), also non-linear filters mean, median, minimum, maximum and oil.
· A manual for developers. This is far from complete, and Ive noticed that writing it before the 1.0 release doesnt make sense. Too much is still changing, so for the time being Im concentrating on writing code and API documentation.
· API documentation with usage examples.
· Source code as HTML. These HTML pages were previously created by an external tool (Java2HTML). However, since Java 1.4 Suns javadoc tool allows for the creation of HTMLized source code as well. It is not as nicely colored as the Java2HTML output, but there are links to it from all classes in the API documentation, which is very convenient to browse the project.
· Requires Java 1.1 or higher

Sometime in the early 90s a game existed on the Macintosh called Diamonds which was something like a cross between a puzzle and action game. The game play required for the player to use the ball on the screen to hit bricks and destroy them.

However, rather than hitting the ball with a paddle like breakout, the player controlled the left and right of the ball with the arrow keys. The ball still bounces up and down on its own, but there is no bottom to fall off of.

To make the game more interesting some of the bricks were different colors so that only when the ball was the same color could the brick be removed. There was also a key and lock brick set where you first had to get the key to remove the lock brick. Other bricks existed with other functions but the basic goal remained, remove the bricks to pass the level.

The resulting game was fun, challenging, and suitable for all ages. Rebound is a reimplementation of the Diamonds game in C++ for Linux.

The game has actually come quite far and I am finally ready to call the 0.8 release beta. An early beta, but it appears to be quite stable and quite playable. Ive even got 4 levels which I think are fun to play and challenging. Anyone can add new levels by editing the data/level.ldf file. A readme exists in the same directory which describes the format of the file.
Score Area - Only thing that is missing is the countdown timer.

Background - Only one background image is currently supported. It would be nice to have one for each level.

Sound - Background music and some collision sounds.

Entry Screen - DONE

Comments in Level Parser - Currently you cant have any comments in the ldf file. I need to update the parser to allow for comments. I think this means more messing with the lexer.

Level Parser Error Messages - Currently the level parser does not tolerate errors in the level data very well at all. At some point I need to dig into boost spirit again to figure out how to add nicer error messages.

Artwork - Pretty much a complete overhaul of the artwork. Can be done external to the game development.

Levels - I need more levels, at least 15 or 20.

Whats New in This Release:

· 14 playable levels, thanks to submitted levels by Tobin Zerba and Quentin Crain!
· New backgrounds have been added which are images from NASA of outerspace. If you feel these are too dark and distract from the game play, please let me know and I can work on modifying them.
