Network Equipment Performance Monitor project monitors and reports uptime, critical events and their predecessors, bytes-served rates, access rates and error rates for network node equipment.

Hardware and software elements within the nodes are tracked and reported separately to make possible rapid fault isolation. It is a very general, highly configurable, two-part software system that captures and analyzes logged performance data from IP-networked equipment and reports it via email and Web pages.

· Restored . to directory names in the data path now that reports no longer might be served by IIS, undoing this change made in release 2.0

Performance Monitor is a program that precisely monitors the state of the system on a Pocket PC.

It displays in real time the amount of memory used by the running programs (Main Memory) and the amount of memory used by the installed programs (Program Memory).

It displays in graph format, updated every second, the processor activity of your Pocket PC, allowing you to check load peaks. It will also show a message when it considers (arbitrarily) that a program is consuming too much CPU power and will prompt you to close it. However, this window is often in the background.

Performance Monitor can also show the running threads on the Pocket PC but doesnt make the distinction between a thread in a program and the program in general.

Performance Monitor is also incapable of showing the priority level given to each thread, and is satisfied to give fragmented information on the execution time of the threads. This information is only displayed, it is impossible to interact with it, such as closing the threads.

Lastly, Performance Monitor can be minimised in the task bar of the Pocket PC (the bar at the bottom) and provides a condensed display that allows via colour coding, to continue to monitor the processor activity. Teratrax Performance Monitor is created to monitor servers permanently and not only during periods of of slow performance. The Monitoring Agent accesses the server only once every 5 minutes which makes the overhead on the server negligible.

Permanent Monitoring allows you to take preemptive actions to correct performance issues before they become problems. For example, an UPDATE statement that is taking 100 ms today, could start taking more and more as the table it updates grows. with permanent monitoring, you can configure Performance Monitor to capture SQL code that takes more than 10,000 ms (10 seconds) to run.

Once the update statement reaches the 10 second mark, Performance Monitor will capture it and alert you to the problem early on. This way, you can view performance data on your server every week or so to determine which code is now slowing down before somebody complains about it.

The only area that Teratrax does not recommend permanent monitoring for is SQL Server Blocking. By default, detection of blocking is disabled. You can enable block detection for small periods of time. For instance, if you re suspecting that your applications are causing blocks, you can enable block capturing for a day or so then disable it. Result will be available from that day for you to analyze at any time.
