The goal of the Dr.DivX project is to build an application which is portable and capable of transcoding as many video formats as possible to DivX.

Convert multiple audio tracks using different encoder settings for each track. MP3, MP3 Surround and AC-3 are supported output audio formats.

Convert DVD subtitle tracks to DivX XSUB subtitle tracks.
- Automatically configures encode settings for requested quality level
User needs to choose only the required quality level, the application does the rest.

Dr. DivX can encode your multi-channels 5.1 audio and video sources to MP3 surround, MP3 surround is backward compatible with "Normal" MP3 while preserving the full 5.1 channel separation. You will need to use the DivX player 6.4 to take advantage of 5.1 audio decoding.

Specifically, it forms the environment within which I am developing an audiovisual instrument for my PhD.
Heilan aims to conform to the X3D Interchange profile, with additional support for certain nodes such as Sound and NurbsPatchSurface.
It may be extended with libraries which can provide extra nodes, navigation types, and sound file loaders.
Heilan X3D Browser comes with a library containing my own experimental audiovisual nodes, and a couple of extra navigation types.
The browser itself is a command line program designed to be used offline (theres no browser plugin or ftp/http support), though there is a GUI frontend available as well (included in the binary package). Both are open source, licensed under the GPL.
Main features:
- Low latency audio courtesy of PortAudio (ASIO, DirectX, MME on Windows; Jack, ALSA, OSS on Linux; CoreAudio on OSX).
- A 1st order B-format Ambisonic audio engine, allowing for full 3d sound, capable of accommodating virtually any speaker configuration (at the moment this is limited to preset configurations, but that will change in the future).
