DiskCheckup 2.1 Build 1001
Monitor the SMART attributes of your disk drives to avoid drive failure more>>
It is a feature of the Enhanced Integrated Drive Electronics (EIDE) technology that controls access to the hard drive. If S.M.A.R.T is enabled when a computer is set up, the BIOS can receive analytical information from the hard drive and determine whether to send the user a warning message about possible future failure of the hard drive.
SMART monitors elements of possible long term drive failure, such as Spin Up Time, the number of start/stops, the number of hours powered on and the temperature.
DiskCheckup displays the current values of the SMART attributes, along with the Threshold value for that attribute. If any attribute value is close to or below the threshold, the drive is no longer reliable and should be replaced.
Note that SMART attributes change slowly over time and are helpful when diagnosing the life span of a particular drive.
DiskCheckup will display some additional drive information, such as the drive serial number, tracks, the number of cylinders, model number, the sectors per track, etc.
System requirements:
- 16 MB RAM
- 1 MB of disk space.
- A hard drive and BIOS that supports SMART, plus compatible drivers. Most recent hard drives are OK but drives connected via SCSI or hardware RAID will not work. But drives connected via SATA (serial ATA) are supported. Drives configured as software RAID (dynamic disks) via Windows Disk Management will also work.
Note: Free for personal use only.

iGain 1.2
An interactive front-end to MP3Gain/AACGain more>>
MP3Gain and AACGain use the Replaygain algorithm to compute the overall loudness of a track or album as perceived by the human ear. It then adjusts the tracks volume, so that your tracks or albums appear to play at approximately the same volume. This avoids the need to constantly adjust the volume of your PC or iPod when switching from track to track.
iTunes integration allows iGain to
- automatically locate your music files,
- operate on playlists, and
- tag files so they will be resynced with your iPod after gain adjustments.
USAGE NOTES
1. BACK UP YOUR MUSIC FILES BEFORE USING! THIS IS EXPERIMENTAL SOFTWARE. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THERE ARE BUGS IN THIS SOFTWARE THAT COULD CORRUPT YOUR MUSIC FILES.
2. iGain/AACGain supports files in the mp4/Quicktime file format. These files
usually have a file extension of .mp4 or .m4a. Raw AAC files, or files
encoded with HE-AAC/SBR are not supported.
3. DRMed files purchased from the iTunes music store are not supported. You
may convert these to .m4a format by burning them to a CD-ROM and importing them back into iTunes.
4. iGain/AACGain does not work with Soundcheck. Soundcheck should be turned off in both iTunes and your iPod.
5. iGain/AACGain does not modify the iTunNorm tag that is used to display
volume in iTunes. You will not see any change in the iTunes displayed
volume after making adjustments. You will hear the changes on playback.
