The ObjectEdit application was designed to be a bitmap color swapping program.
ObjectEdit is designed to swap colors. All of your alterations will appear on the Copy image. Essentially this is how it works: Select a new color by clicking on the copy image.
The color will show up at the top of the screen in the new Color box. Now select an old color which will be replaced by your new choice by right clicking on the Copy image. Now you will see this color show up in the old color box.
All pixels of color Old Color Box will be replaced by the color of the New Color box and you will see the changes in the copy image.
ObjectEdit now comes with a mouse cursor for the newly added pencil tool. It must have access to the mouse cursor icon and the mouse.ico file must be in the same directory as ObjectEdit or else you will get a runtime error when you try to use the pencil too and it doesnt find it.
If you lose mouse.ico please go to my website where it will be available for download. The pencil tool will allow you to set pixels on the right side picture of type NEW COLOR BOX.
ObjectEdit can be a bit slow on larger images and images that are too large may get cut off because there simply isnt enough room on the screen. In this case try setting your monitor to its highest resolution. The program is extremely small and it can easily fit on a floppy disk for long term storage.

The critical routine is written in x86 Assembly Language. Its too slow in pure BASIC. However, Ive left a "dummy" procedure at the end of the Text listing, so that people can see how the Edge Detector routine works.
In fact, it ooks for a certain (adjustable) minimum rate-of-change in either of the R, G or B values either side of a given pixel. It looks at all 8 pixels and looks for the minimum rate of change in each of the 4 directions through the central pixel.
