phase shift
phase shift in title
phase shift in description
It contains a singleband compressor, an 8-band multiband compressor, a lowpass filter and a stereo image manipulator.
The compressors can be used to make the playback volume and sound of different recordings more equal, or to remove loud peaks from recordings.
The stereo image manipulator can be used to repair phase shift problems in stereo recordings and to increase or decrease phasing and channel separation separately. It can also be used to convert sounds from stereo to mono, while preserving the fullness of the sound.
The lowpass filter is useful if certain frequencies need to be filtered out, for example the FM stereo pilot tone at 19 kHz if you send the Winamp output to an FM transmitter.
MapBasic application development environment contains text editor, compiler and linker. Unfortunately, creating dialogs, menus and toolbars requires much time and routine work when describing them in specific MapBasic commands. Even greater efforts demand changing, adding and removing individual components of the interface during development.
Limitations:
· 30 day trial
It was originally created to repair phase shift problems in stereo recordings, but it can do a lot more, like keeping the playback of each song at the same volume.
Here are some key features of "Stereo Tool":
· A singleband compressor/limiter - This can be used to make soft sounds louder or loud sounds softer, and to reduce loud peaks in the sound.
· An 8-band multiband compressor/limiter - If one song contains a lot of bass, and the next contains a lot of treble, this filter can make them sound equal.
· A stereo separation widener/narrower - With this you can let both speakers play all the instruments at the same level (so if you only hear one speaker, you dont miss any sounds), and still keep a part of the stereo effect.
· A stereo phase shift widener/narrower - Useful if you have a mono output channel: Sounds converted to mono using this filter sound just as full and powerful as the original stereo recording. Also useful if you want to repair bad recordings that have stereo phasing problems, or if you just want to hear an increased stereo without moving the instruments. This enables transforming any recording to mono without audiable artifacts, and achieving better quality encoding for low bitrate MP3 files.
· A channel delay filter - Play back one channel with a small delay to create a fake stereo effect.
· A lowpass filter - Useful if you want to feed the Winamp output into an FM transmitter. This filter can completely remove any FM pilot tone interference. Also useful to hear how a recording would sound on an AM station etc.

Harmonix renders a single, horizontal line on the image, but this is no ordinary line. It is the result of superimposing up to ten separate harmonic frequencies, scaled to the screen.
You can change the up to ten harmonic frequencies in both amplitude (volume/height) and phase (offset/shift) and have precise control over the base frequency.
Use it to create realistic graphs or demonstrate how to create other basic waveforms from nothing but carefully selected harmonic frequencies.
From the harmonic sine waves you can mix together the "primitive" square, saw tooth and triangle waves but also more complex combinations.
Harmonix requires a Photoshop plug-in compatible graphics applications on Windows.
Here are some key features of "Harmonix":
· Configure up to 10 harmonic frequencies.
· Amplitude.
· Phase.
· Base frequency fine-tuning.
· Automatic normalization of result wave.
· Reliable preview.
· Fully calculated.
· Fully documented in help system.
· Save and load settings.
· Supports 8-bit RGB mode.
Voxengo PHA-979 was designed to be an audio plug-in that will allow you to apply an arbitrary phase shift to the program materia Voxengo PHA-979 was designed to be an audio plug-in that will allow you to apply an arbitrary phase shift to the program material. What is meant by the phase shift here is a simultaneous shifting of all frequencies across the active frequency range of the signal by the given phase shift value. This process does not harm the phase relations within the signal being processed. For example, you can shift the phase of the signal by 90 degrees and then shift its phase by 180+90 degrees to get the original signal as a result. In PHA-979, this is achieved by using a linear-phase design.
PHA-979 can be very useful during mixing sessions, especially when working with the program material recorded through the microphone. In many cases this allows one to solve various phasing problems arising from the microphone
Another possible use of PHA-979 is for making stereo-field adjustments. These can be useful both in audio restoration applications and audio mixing. For example, some synth instruments may create a `too wide stereo field which becomes a problem when the mixed stereo material is later converted to mono: those `wide instruments simply disappear. By shifting one of the stereo channels--during mixing of the original instrument track--this problem can be resolved.
PHA-979 is a relatively CPU-consumptive plug-in with a considerable processing delay (latency). This means that this plug-in is best used with audio host applications which offer a freeze-like function along with a plug-in delay compensation.
Here are some key features of "Voxengo PHA 979":
· Arbitrary phase adjustments
· Phase control for each channel
· Two quality modes
· Linear-phase design
· Pan control
· "A-to-B" comparisons
· Mono-to-Stereo, Stereo-to-Stereo processing
· Sample rates up to 96 kHz supported
· Native assembler DSP code
Requirements:
· About 1 MB of harddisk space
· 1+ GHz processor
· Audio application supporting VST plug-ins
Limitations:
· Processing stops for a moment every 45 seconds.
PhaseBugs primary function is to shift the phase of an incoming audio signal. This is a critical function in fixing source signals that have phase errors in relation to one another, which can cause inappropriate cancellation or reinforcement of frequencies in a mix.
You can take PhaseBug for a spin and see what its really capable of.
Requirements:
· VST host

Stereo Tool is a free Winamp plugin that can be used to manipulate sounds.
It was originally created to repair phase shift problems in stereo recordings, but it can do a lot more,
like keeping the playback of each song at the same volume.
Currently, Stereo Tool offers the following sound processing options:
A singleband compressor/limiter
This can be used to make soft sounds louder or loud sounds softer, and to reduce loud peaks in the sound.
An 8-band multiband compressor/limiter
If one song contains a lot of bass, and the next contains a lot of treble, this filter can make them sound equal. Can also be used to keep the volume at the same level. At aggressive settings, the result sounds "fuller".
A stereo channel separation widener/narrower
With this you can move the instruments to the center, or further away from each other. This can be used among others to let both speakers play all the sounds at the same level (so if you only hear one speaker, you dont miss any sounds), and still keep a part of the stereo effect.
A stereo phase shift widener/narrower
Phase shift widening makes the stereo stand out more, which can make music sound more powerful. The instruments do not change position though. Phase shift narrowing can be useful for example if you have a mono output channel: Sounds converted to mono using this filter sound just as full and powerful as the original stereo recording. This enables transforming any recording to mono without audiable artifacts, and achieving better quality encoding for low bitrate MP3 files.
A phasing error (AZIMUTH) correction filter.
Old tape recordings and many cheap CDs often suffer from severe phasing errors. These phasing errors can make listening very unpleasant, and when the phasing error changes over time the sound can seem to "float" around you. It can also cause severe artifacts when converting the sound to mono or when playing it on a surround system.
Key Features:
Time stretch between 12.5% and 800%
Pitch shift from -36 to +36 semitones
Maintain original acoustic space and sound stage
Preserve transient attacks and timing accuracy
Apply formant correction with strength and shift control
Preserve Dolby matrix encoding
Maintain phase coherenency and preserve stereo image
Supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz
