Berkeley UPC 2.4.0

Berkeley UPC 2.4.0

open-source, high performance, portable UPC compiler more>> Unified Parallel C (UPC) is an extension of the C programming language designed for high performance computing on large-scale parallel machines. The language provides a uniform programming model for both shared and distributed memory hardware. The programmer is presented with a single shared, partitioned address space, where variables may be directly read and written by any processor, but each variable is physically associated with a single processor.
UPC uses a Single Program Multiple Data (SPMD) model of computation in which the amount of parallelism is fixed at program startup time, typically with a single thread of execution per processor.
In order to express parallelism, UPC extends ISO C 99 with the following constructs:
  • An explicitly parallel execution model
  • A shared address space
  • Synchronization primitives and a memory consistency model
  • Memory management primitives
UPC combines the programmability advantages of the shared memory programming paradigm and the control over data layout and performance of the message passing programming paradigm.
Berkeley UPC is a high-performance, portable and fully open-source implementation of the UPC language designed for large-scale multiprocessors, PC clusters, and clusters of shared memory multiprocessors. Berkeley UPC is the first UPC implementation available for Microsoft Windows, providing support for UPC code development on Windows laptops and desktop workstations.

SpinOSC Beta 0.1

SpinOSC Beta 0.1

SpinOSC is an interface to programs such as Pure Data. more>> SpinOSC is an interface to programs such as Pure Data, Supercollider orOpen SoundWorld, that sends OSC messages. SpinOSC allows the useer to create rotating objects - spins - that trigger messages while thy spin. The number of messages they trigger depends on the number of boxes that each spin contains (1 to 10 at the moment). The messages are in OSC format (Read more about Open Sound Control protocol on http://cnmat.cnmat.berkeley.edu/OSC/ ).
The messages carry information about the properties of each spin such as: location, number of boxes, size, rotation speed etc... These properties can be easily controlled and changed by the user.
SpinOSC contains a patch example of the receiving end developed developed in Pure Data. This patch can be easily customizable for your own needs. OSC can be sent to many sound applications such as SuperCollider or Open Sound World. It is up to you to map the values you get from the Spins to control whatever value in the receiving end.
The Prefs file is a useful tool to customise the behaviour of the application for your own needs.

Resolve for Bdoor-CHR/W32/MyDoom 1.07

A tool that removes Bdoor-CHR/W32/MyDoom trojan more>> A tool that removes Bdoor-CHR/W32/MyDoom trojan

Resolve is the name for a set of small, downloadable Sophos utilities designed to remove and undo the changes made by certain viruses, Trojans and worms.
They terminate any virus processes and reset any registry keys that the virus changed. Existing infections can be cleaned up quickly and easily, both on individual workstations and over networks with large numbers of computers.
W32/MyDoom-A is a worm which spreads by email. When the infected
attachment is launched, the worm harvests email addresses from address
books and from files with the following extensions: WAB, TXT, HTM, SHT, PHP,
ASP, DBX, TBB, ADB and PL.
W32/MyDoom-A creates a file called Message in the temp folder and runs Notepad to display the contents, which displays random characters.
W32/MyDoom-A spoofs, using randomly chosen email addresses in the "To:" and "From:" fields as well as a randomly chosen subject line. The emails distributing this worm have the following characteristics.
Subject lines
error
hello
hi
mail delivery system
mail transaction failed
server report
status

The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment
The message contains Unicode characters and has been sent as a binary attachment.
Mail transaction failed. Partial message is available.

W32/MyDoom-A is programmed to not forward itself via email if the recipient email address satisfies various conditions:
The worm will not send itself to email addresses belonging to domains containing the following strings: acketst, arin., avp, berkeley, borlan, bsd, example, fido, foo., fsf., gnu, google, .gov, gov., hotmail, iana, ibm.com, icrosof, ietf, inpris, isc.o, isi.e, kernel, linux, math, .mil, mit.e, mozilla, msn., mydomai, nodomai, panda, pgp, rfc-ed, ripe., ruslis, secur, sendmail, sopho, syma, tanford.e, unix, usenet, utgers.ed As a consequence the worm does not forward itself to a number of email domains, including several anti-virus companies and Microsoft.
The worm will not send itself to email addresses in which the username contains the following strings: abuse, anyone, bugs, ca, contact, feste, gold-certs, help, info, me, no, noone, nobody, not, nothing, page, postmaster, privacy, rating, root, samples, secur, service, site, spm, soft, somebody, someone, submit, the.bat, webmaster, you, your, www
The worm will not send itself to email addresses which contain the the following strings: admin, accoun, bsd, certific, google, icrosoft, linux, listserv, ntivi, spam, support, unix
The worm can also copy itself into the shared folder of the KaZaA peer-to-peer application with one of the following filenames and a PIF, EXE, SCR or BAT extension:

BOINC - Use the idle time on your computer to cure diseases, study global warming, discover pulsars, and do scientific research more>>
The Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing (BOINC) software is a distributed computing infrastructure, originally developed out of the SETI home project, but intended to be useful to fields beyond SETI.
BOINC is the information technology infrastructure for distributing work in the form of work units and downloading the distributed applications that process them. BOINC does no useful scientific work itself. Scientific computations are run on user computers and results are analyzed after they are validated and transferred from BOINC into a scientific database.
Many different projects use BOINC, such as - BBC Climate Change Experiment, Folding@Home, Einstein@Home and many others. Projects are independent; each one operates its own servers and databases. Participants can participate in multiple projects; they control which projects they participate in, and how their resources are divided among these projects. When a project is down or has no work, the resources of its participants are divided among other projects.
Projects do not rely on powerful supercomputers for its data processing; instead, the primary contributors to the projects are many thousands of personal computer users who have installed BOINC client program.
The client runs in the background, and makes use of the CPU when it is not busy. In most modern personal computers, the CPU is rarely used to its full capacity at all times; the BOINC takes advantage of this unused processing power, to make the world a better place.
