The HLSSignature plug-in was designed based on a Reference Implementation developed by Microsofts Life Sciences team.
The HLSSignature plug-in is installed by executing the installer program. The installer will deploy the plug-in to the users Microsoft Office platform, but it will not alter the registry to set the configuration options.
The HLSSignature plug-in looks for three registry entries that guide the behavior of the plug-in during signature creation and validation. If any of these entries are missing, default values are used. The registry settings are read and cached when the Office programs are started, so if these values are changed while the application is open, the new values will not take effect until after the program has exited.
