The Polyphony Spectrum Visualizations are a group of original. Polyphony Spectrum Visualizations 1.1 - PolyphonyMIDIPOLY 1.1
Calculate location and number of maximum playing notes more>>
Main features:
- read standard midi file
- counts all notes and voices and location of their maximum
- supports a device descripton of sounds to specify polyphony information(.ply text file)
- shows number of notes and number of voices and location
- detailed listing of notes and voices at maximum locations
- supporting pedal hold and sustenuto
mididir already had an option -poly that was supposed to calculate max. polyphony of a song, but till now it only counted notes assuming each voice to be simple (requiring only 1 voice generator). Newer devices offer much more sounds and many of them require more than 1 voice generator per played note. This leads to new calculation of max. polyphony.
Since the number of voices per sound is depending on the used device (hardware) this information must be prepared in a table. For each available sound there should be a description. If no such table is available then 1 voice/note is assumed which is identical to note counting.
Manufacturers have the information of devices sounds and sometimes
summarize it in manual, together with the information how to address the
sound (program, highbank, lowbank).
This program also considers the case that a device could use different
complex sounds for different notes (e.g. a drum or sfx kit).

Alpha Free 3.0.1
This synthesizer application is VST plug-in instrument for creating new sounds more>> This synthesizer application is VST plug-in instrument for creating new sounds
Focussed on the essential modules of an analogue synthesizer Alpha 3 offers true hands on operation. Everything is where you would expect it, nothing is more complex as it needs to be. Nothing is less powerfull as it needs to be. Alpha 3 is the sum of all our experience in synthesizer manufacturing.
Alpha 3 will allow Frequency Modulation of the Filters Cutoff, a feature that you can only find in very few Synthesizers. The source of the Filter FM can be any oscillator, even noise. Together with the Ringmodulator which can be gradually morphed from pure Oscillator 2 over Amplitude-Modulation to Ring-Modulation this is a guaratee for some of very finest and most excotic sounds a classic subtractive synth can produce
Alpha 3 has two oscillators with each producing a continuously adjustable mix of 2 from 30 waveforms. Taking into account that both basic waveform can have a different pitch already allows for thousands of resulting waveforms. But dont worry, our concept of handling is dead easy, pick the waveforms and adjust the mix.
Just when you get tired about the many over-complex synthesizers of today, when you want to return to the roots, the beginning of all synthetic sound, the times when a Synthesizer could be fully programmed, then the Alpha 3 is the right synthesizer for you. Get the synth that you can control. Completely.

Sonata 1.1
Sonata - VST soft-synth for leads and pads more>>
The distinctive character of Sonata makes it adept at strings and lots of simple subtractive sounds, while also specializing in sparkly and glassy mallet sounds, deep basses, and warm and rich mid-range chromatic inventions.
Sonata application features two separate but similarly controlled generators, one for the sounds immediate attack and another for the fundamental tone. Both consist of rich harmonic spectra which are filtered to provide desired overtones. Each possesses its own exponential decay envelopes for amplitude and filter, and its own ADSR envelope.
The output from these is then fed into a little black box?a complex setup of delay devices set relatively for each note that creates a complex comb-filtering effect. This stage shapes the sound, emphasizing desired frequencies and providing richer post-filter overtones, similar to the way an instruments body will influence its sound.
There are three global effects:
- a cross delay,
- distortion,
- a reverb
Sonata produces sounds with consistent timbres in both high and low registers, allowing for better two-handed keyboard performance and ranged melodies. As a result, sometimes each note can get a little CPU-hungry.
Since Sonatas polyphony relies solely on processor power, a 2.5 GHz PC should handle about 20+ note polyphony without much else going on. 1.6GHz computers running other VST instruments should realistically expect only about 8.

MIDIDIR 1.9
Midi directory listing, add title to a midi file more>>
This program was not my idea. The idea came from a person on net that asked for a simple way to generate a midi listing of a midi archive. Some answers suggested using MSDOS command "dir /S" to get a list. When I posted a zip file containing some of my midi files I added a file listing as content to the article description. I manually edited the content and got unexpected positive reactions for this listing.
Main features:
- scans subdirectories for binary midi files

- filename mask using wildcards ? and * can be used
- search words (may contain wildcards ? and *) to find certain titles
- can add title to a midi file
- shows midi mode (GM, GS, XG)
- produce database importable text
- karaoke titles have higher priorities
- try to filter bad titles (e.g. advertisement)
- optionally shows song time
- support device information for exact polyphony calculation
