GB-PVR 1.4.7 is designed to be a mature, robust, full-featured Personal Video Recorder (PVR) or Media Center which is used on Microsoft Windows. It's main function is scheduling tv recording and watching live tv, but it can also playback a wide variety of media types across music, videos and photos. The application is made even more useful with a wide range of plugins available, providing features like weather, music jukeboxes, netflix etc.
GB-PVR supports the latest technologies, including ATSC/ClearQAM/DVB-C/DVB-T/DVB-S capture devices, high definition MPEG2 and H.264 television channels, media extenders (Popcorn Hour, Hauppauge MediaMVP etc), multidec support, multi-record (recording multiple digital channels with one tuner), etc

Enhancements:

• Added CI support for watching DVB pay TV channels outside of north america. Devices supported include Hauppauge WinTV-CI, and CI capable devices from Twinhan, FireDTV and TechnoTrend. You can enable CI support on a per capture source basis, using the new 'common interface' checkbox in the digital capture source settings.
• Improved compatibility with Windows 7
• Added logic to auto correct the tuning request of any already mapped channels at the end of each scan. Basically if your broadcaster had changed any audio/video pids, you can go into the config app and hit the 'rescan' button, then any channel mappings that match the same frequency and program number will be automatically updated to have the correct PIDs/PMT/PCR etc.
• DVB Subtitles now working again for live preview tv. When you're using the TS Mux it'll also work for timeshift mode tv, and for playback of recordings.
• Streaming client mode is now compatible with 'TS Mux'
• Updated channel digital channel scanning screen. Showing details about the selected channel.
• Now keeps a few more backups of recording-dump.xml
• Added support for DolbyDigital+ audio (also known as E-AC3). This audio format is starting to be used with channels in a few countries (France, Israel etc).
• QAM users can now choose to use HRC cable frequencies if they needed.
• At the end of a QAM scan it will ask the user for permission to query the Internet for additional channel information (ie channel names). This query uses the SiliconDust web API. Thank you SiliconDust (the HDHomeRun manufacturer) for offering the use of this service.
• Fixed a bug where stopping DVD back would cause it to drop back to the main menu instead of staying in the plugin previously visible (for example, Video Library)
• Fixed a problem where DVD playback could automatically restart on the next keystroke after previously stopping DVD playback when screen saver timeout period had expired.
• Added ability to schedule to watch a future show. In TV Guide, press play on a show in the future and it'll highlight blue. App will start live tv and switch to that channel at the specified time. Pretty basic, no popup reminders on the screen.
• Decoders listed in the config app are now dynamically detected, rather that from the list in config.xml
• Fixed a problem with selecting the daemon tools executable in the config app.

• Setting HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwaredevnzTSMuxBlockEncryp ted=1 (DWORD) will cause the TS Mux to discard encrypted packets rather than writing them to the file being recorded.

ccextractor is a fast closed captions extractor for MPEG files. Supports HDTV transport streams, DVD and Replay TV.
In short ccextractor is a small program that processes MPEG 2 files and extracts closed captions data to generate subtitle files.
You can use this program to create .srt (subtitles) files for your TV captures, have transcripts so you can edit subtitles, etc.
You can pass as many input files as you need. They will be processed in order.
Output will be one single file (either raw or srt). Use this if you made your
recording in several cuts (to skip commercials for example) but you want one
subtitle file with contiguous timing.
Whats the point of generating separate files for subtitles, if they are already in the source file?
There are several reasons to have subtitles separated from the video file, including:
- Closed captions never survive MPEG processing. If you take a MPEG file and encode it to any format (such as divx), your result file will not have closed captions. This means that if you want to keep the subtitles, you need to keep the original file. This is hardly practical if you are archiving HDTV shows for example.
- Subtitles files are small - so small (around 250 Kb for a movie) that you can quickly download them, or email them, etc, in case you have a recording without subtitles.
- Subtitles files are indexable: You can have a database with all your subtitles if you want (there are many available), so you can search the dialogs.
- Subtitles files are a de-facto standard: Almost every player can use them. In fact, many setbox players accept subtitles files in .srt format - so you can have subtitles in your divx movies and not just in your original DVDs.
- Closed captions are stored in many different formats by capture cards. Upgrading to a new card, if it comes with a new player, may mean that you cant use your previously recorded closed captions, even if the audio/video are fine.
- Closed captions require a closed caption decoder. All US TV have one (its a legal requirement), but no European TV does, since there are not closed captions in Europe (teletext is used instead). Basically this means that if you buy a DVD in the US which has closed captions but no DVD subtitles, you are out of luck. This is a problem with many (most) old TV shows DVDs, which only come with closed captions. DVD producers dont bother doing DVD subs, since its another way to segment the market, same as with DVD regions.
What kind of files can I extract closed captions from?
CCExtractor currently handles:
- DVDs.
- Most HDTV captures (where you save the Transport Stream).
- Captures where captions are recorded in bttv format. The number of cards that use this card is huge. My test samples came from a Hauppage PVR-250. You can check the complete list here.
- DVR-MS (microsoft digital video recording).
Usually, if you record a TV show with your capture card and CCExtractor produces the expected result, it will work for your all recordings. If it doesnt, which means that your card uses a format CCExtractor cant handle, please contact me and well try to make it work.

Enhancements:
- Added an option to the GUI to process individual files in batch, i.e. call ccextractor once per file. Use it if you want to process several unrelated files in one go.
- Added an option to prevent duplicate lines in roll-up captions.
- Several minor bugfixes.
- Updated the GUI to add the new options.
