Golden Phrases is an web server access log files analyzing utility specialized to analyze search phrases. It scan specified log files, retrieve all search phrases from them, gather the statistics of using the phrases, determine position of your site on search engines for every phrase and estimate the perspectivity of every phrase. Lets consider in details how it work:
Golden Phrases assume that every line of log file can contain one referer from search phrase. Therefore, it try to apply the search engine specific pattern for every line of log files. And if line has an string of chars matching with pattern it assume that this line has referring URL from search engine and try to extract the search phrase and other accompanying information from this line.
Because Golden Phrases do not make any assumptions of a format of a files, its independent from format of log files, i.e. can properly handle log files with almost any format. Also its very fast and can understand the compressed log files.
After retrieving all search phrases and and gathering their statistics, Golden Phrases use special formula to calculate the factor of perspectivity for every phrase. For calculation of this factor Golden Phrases takes into account the amount of hits for each phrase and current position of your site on search engine for this phrase. The more this factor, the more reasons to make the special optimization for this phrase.
You can note, that your current top search phrases has very low factor of perspectivity. But this is all right! These phrases is already working with full power and not requires your attention. Also note that perspectivity factor has absolutely abstract value. It only reflects relative perspectivity of the given phrase in comparison with others.
Features:
- Search phrases statistics - for each phrase you can see the number of visitors which find your site using this phrase. This is most common feature. Almost all log analyzers have such feature, even freeware tools - the Webalizer, or ClickTracks Analyzer for example.
- Site position for phrases - more advanced feature, allows you to see the position of your site in search engines.
- There is a lot of tools which also can determine the position. But this tools usually request the position directly from search engines and therefore require the connection to Internet, consume a lot of time and bandwidth.
