AVI ReComp is an application that allows you to recompress your AVI files. AVI ReComp supports not only files containing audio streams but AVIs without any audio as well. For the time being the program uses only XviD codec for the recompression process (versions: 1.0.3 or newer).
The installation pack contains all required components (the newest versions of: VirtualDubMod, AviSynth and XviD). AVI ReComp can be very useful for users who want to clear their AVIs out of GMC or Qpel functions to prepare their clips for standalone DVD players.
AVI ReComp contains the feature of embedding subtitles into video. So if you want burnt in subtitles, you can use this software. Additionally the newest versions allow you to add black borders to your movie and place your subtitles on them. You can also adjust all settings for ssa and ass subtitles (style, colour, position).
AVI ReComp enables batch encoding, getting detailed information about AVI files and adding own logo to the movie. You can also change a resolution and aspect ratio of your video clip. AVI ReComp supports AVIs with the following audio formats: mp3, wav, ac3, dts, ogg.
AVI ReComp supports the following subtitle formats: TMPlayer (.txt), MicroDVD (.txt / .sub), SubViewer2 (.sub), SubRip (.srt), Advanced SubStation Alpha (.ass), SubStation Alpha (.ssa). The program includes multilingual interface (for the time being: British, Czech, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Polish, Serbian and Slovenian).

The demo application inputs are MPEG-2 Video Elementary Stream, MPEG-2 Program Stream, DVD VOB files. It splits video/audio streams, recompresses MPEG-2 VES in concordance with the set compression ratio and writes audio/video streams to respective files. Audio streams are dumped as is, without recompression.
Total audio/video output files size is approximate size of MPEG-2 or VOB file containing these streams after multiplexing. Such one can estimate potential VOB size decrease.
Version 1.1 accepts advanced parameters. There can be set a unique compression rate for each picture type (Intra, Predicted or Bi-directional). This is the case also for intra and non-intra macroblocks

- Automatic deinterlace if the source is MPEG2 (it using Donald Graft Kernel Deiterlacer), because there is 95 % probabilty that it is from interlaced DVB or Camera (nothing happens when source isnt interlaced, because it deinterlaces only interlaced parts of movie (it is inteligent))
- If you try to shutdown Windows while converting then application will stop this shutting down and ask you if you realy want to shutdown Windows
- Start of encoding and lenght of final video CAN BE SET BY MOUSE WHEEL (at least for me it is extremely timesaving), and every slider in can be also set by mouse wheel
- If you pause the starting of new convesions and you forget it, then aplication in five minutes will (if there is no mouse activity over application) disable this pause and start conversion (this is good for always absent-minded people); the window with avaiable audio/subtitles tracks or titles will also dissapear in 60 seconds automaticaly
- Subtitles are autosizing - for example in resolution 640x480 they take 2/3 of width and in resolution 320x240 they take also 2/3 of width
- Everything what you set in application is SAVED (this takes me a LOT of work)
- Help is integrated directly in application, just stay with mouse for example on button, checkbox, etc. - the help window will appear (disappear time is set to 100 seconds)
- Conversion running at idle priority (it will not slow down your computer, you can do anything while converting)
- Support multicore PCs (1-4 cores)
- It have TURBO button, if clicked then conversion is about 5x faster (at the cost of quality)
