One of the main application in which RGB model is used is the color display system in CRT (cathode ray tube), LCD (liquid crystal display) or plasma display monitors.
Actually the RGB color model is not the ?red?, ?green? and ?blue? colors. The mixing results are not exact whether the primary spectrals make-up of the red, green and blue are defined.

I wrote RGBHSV some years ago to explain to my students how color models work. Recently I modified it so it now has the ability to create a textual description for the current color (very useful to copy & paste in several computer languages (HTML, Java, Delphi, Visual Basic, etc.) It also computes the nearest web-safe color.
The latest version, can pick a color from anywhere on the screen. It can take the color from a single pixel or average the color of 3x3 or 5x5 pixels.

RGB MusicLab 25 is a very serviceable tool which converts RGB (Red, Green and Blue) value of an image to Chromatic scale music.
And RGB MusicLab MIDI file is converted to the original image. The program reads RGB value of pixels from the top left to the bottom right of an image. One pixel makes a harmony of three note of RGB value, and the length of note is determined by brightness of the pixel. RGB value 120 or 121 is the center C, and RGB value 122 or 123 is added a half steps of the scale that is C#. Please listen samples on the developer's info site. You can get the idea.
It is not an impression of paintings or photographs of a composer. It reads a score from an image data directly. Download (2.9MB)
