DSpeech is a stand-alone program of Text To Speech, specifically designed to furnish quickly and directly the functions of better practical usefulness, that are requested to this kind of programs.
In the meantime the invasivity and the spent of resources are minimal. (DSpeech does not install itself, is very light, it starts in a second and doesnt write anything on the register).
DSpeech will use the vocal engines installed on your computer, by default Windows XP has only Microsoft SAM.
However, the better vocal engines come from Acapela, RealSpeak, Loquendo and VoiceWare.
Main features:
- It supports the basic funtions of the TTS (Speak, Stop, Pause, Resume).
- DSpeech allows to save the output as a Wav or Mp3 file
- It allows to change the speed and the volume of the voice.
- DSpeech allows to select quickly different voices and to merge them, in order to create dialogues.
- It allows to capture and reproduce the content of the ClipBoard.
- Its compatible with all modern vocal engines SAPI 5 compliant.

- On Windows NT4/2000 you need to install MS-SAPI5.1 (search for "sapi51.msi")

pVoice is an application for Augmentative and Alternative Communication more>> pVoice is an application for Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).Disabled people who cannot speak and have very little possiblities to operate a computer can use pVoice by selecting photos or symbols to generate speech output.
Common symbol languages like PCS, Bliss or Vijfhoek can be used with pVoice. You need to purchase these symbol-libraries from the respective manufacturers though. If you want a cheap solution, you can download symbols from the Picto-archive (dutch) For your convenience I created a zipfile of the pictos from this site, which you can also download from the downloadpage.
Although pVoice 2.2 is still under development, you can already get a sneak preview of this by downloading the latest betaversion. pVoice 2.2 provides a large number of improvements over 2.1, amongst which:
