Paessler SNMP Tester 3.1b is a utility which has the function of checking and debuging SNMP requests against a device in your network. During the test each single step of the SNMP request is logged into a logfile for analysis.
The idea of this free program is to debug SNMP requests down to the protocol level in order to find communication and/or data problems in SNMP monitoring configurations. Just follow these simple instructions:
Download Paessler SNMP Tester and run the snmptest.exe file:
- Enter the IP address of your device and select the SNMP port and the SNMP community string.
- Select a request type:
- MIB2 Interface: Reads the traffic counter of a port according to the MIB2 OID
- Custom OID: Enter a custom OID value to access any OID value on the device (
- Device Uptime: Reads the standard system uptime value from the device It may be necessary to select a specific local IP for the SNMP request (usually only necessary for multi homed systems)
- Click on "Run Test" to start the testing process.
- During the test you will find detailed information in the logfile window.

Sometimes we encounter Firewall - Access denied for the web site you requested! message while surfing from a corporate network. Unfortunately, firewalls sometimes rate a good valid site as blacklisted site.

WebNMS SNMP Utilities offers a comprehensive development toolkit for SNMP-based network management applications. These tools can be used for device, element, application, and system management. The tools can communicate and interact with any SNMP-enabled device. Also it is very helpful for debugging and testing. The SNMP Utilities has a simple and intuitive graphic user interface that allows you to perform various functions in a mouse-click.
WebNMS SNMP Utilities provides off-the-shelf components for trap and table handling along with basic SNMP operations, such as SNMP GET, SNMP GETNEXT, SNMP GETBULK, and SNMP SET.
These tools can be used to manage SNMPv1, SNMPv2c, and SNMPv3 agents (i.e. the tools are multi-lingual) and talk to managed devices using any of the three versions of the SNMP protocols at the same time. WebNMS SNMP Utilities completely supports SNMPv3, as it is compliant with RFC 3411, 3412, 3413, 3414, and 3415. It also supports co-existence, notification filtering, and proxy forwarding; thus confirming to the RFC 2573 and 2576.
The following tools can communicate and interact with any SNMP-enabled device.
* MibBrowser - used to view and operate on data available through a SNMP agent on a managed device.
* SNMP Decoder - used to view the decoded output of the debug information.
* Trap Viewer - used to parse and view the received traps.

SNMP Manager is an application developed to provide a simple form of network monitoring.
Idividual clients / workstations are represented as icons, the icon will show red if an attempt to ping the IP address fails. The icon will show green if the IP address responds to a ping or SNMP request. The polling frequency, timeout, and size of the ping can all be configured.
Each client / workstation can also be pinged individually and report a round trip delay, and other IP addresses can also be pinged, even if they are not represented as icons.
The icon displayed for each client / workstation can be configured dependant on the devices Object ID. Icons are chosen from exe or ico files currently on the computer. The text displayed below the icons can be any one of: the IP Address, the SNMP Object Name, or any preconfigured text string.

SNMP Tester 1.7 Build 41.1 is considered to be a helpful and creative tool that queries and monitors SNMP-compatible devices but it is especially designed to test SNMP router compatibility. The first part of the test queries the system name and system description strings, the forwarding flag and enumerates all the exposed interfaces.
The 2nd part of the test monitors SNMP traps from the device (your system must be configured to receive traps from the device). While the monitoring is running, trigger some events e.g. connection and disconnection of the Internet line and see if those events are reported in the application. These features won't work in Windows 9x and ME but should work in Windows NT4, 2000, XP and later.
