Sokoban means warehouse keeper in Japanese. Sokoban is a free puzzle game requiring logical thinking and puzzle-solving.

The goal is to push boxes to their correct destinations (the designated target squares) in a crowded warehouse. The player controls the "man" and the man can only push boxes, and only one at a time. You cannot push two or more boxes at once. The challenge comes in having to think ahead; in the process of moving the boxes, you might accidently create unsolvable positions. Players will soon learn that this is the main obstacle in solving problems. Advanced players also try to find shorter and shorter solutions, measured in man moves and boxes pushes.

This Widget version features 50 puzzles that you can solve with your brain, and a keyboard or the mouse. The mazes range from very simple to extremely difficult ones requiring many hours of brain work.

The game was invented in Japan. The original program was written by Hiroyuki Imabayashi. Since then, several versions have been written for most personal computers.

The classic puzzle game by Hiroyuki Imabayashi comes to your Macs Dashboard. Push all of the lightbulbs onto the sockets to win! It sounds easy, but wait until you get stuck Over 850 Sokoban puzzles, ranging from dead easy to nigh impossible, are included.

Running the widget on Dashboard requires MacOS 10.4 or higher. Sokoban-curious visitors browsing with Safari 1.3 or higher, Firefox, Mozilla, or other standards-compliant browsers can try the Sokoban widget online here. Use the arrow keys to move your character. Pressing "R" or clicking the "Reset" button resets the puzzle if you get stuck, while pressing "U" or clicking the "Undo" button takes back moves one at a time.

Whats New in This Release:

· Instructions are now written on the back of the widget.
· 350 more puzzles have been added, including the easier "Minicosmos" and "Novoban" sets for those who found the sets in 1.0 too difficult.
· The puzzle sets are now marked in the menu with their difficulty, from easy ( ) to maddening ( ). This is done in an entirely subjective, non-scientific way, so you may disagree with my assessment.
· Buttons have been added to go to the previous and next puzzles within a set, making it easy to browse through a sets puzzles.
· Moving the mouse over the widget now reveals arrow buttons around the player icon, allowing the player to be moved using the mouse.

3D Sokoban is a new implementation of old game with just one big difference; you do not control player looking on maze from top any more, because you ARE the player.

You are walking inside mazes and moving boxes to correct locations by yourself. You have a map but you cannot see where you are on it. And there is nobody up there who can tell you where to go or which box to push.
