Teratrax Performance Monitor is created to monitor servers permanently and not only during periods of of slow performance. The Monitoring Agent accesses the server only once every 5 minutes which makes the overhead on the server negligible. Permanent Monitoring allows you to take preemptive actions to correct performance issues before they become problems. For example, an UPDATE statement that is taking 100 ms today, could start taking more and more as the table it updates grows. with permanent monitoring, you can configure Performance Monitor to capture SQL code that takes more than 10,000 ms (10 seconds) to run. Once the update statement reaches the 10 second mark, Performance Monitor will capture it and alert you to the problem early on. This way, you can view performance data on your server every week or so to determine which code is now slowing down before somebody complains about it. The only area that Teratrax does not recommend permanent monitoring for is SQL Server Blocking. By default, detection of blocking is disabled. You can enable block detection for small periods of time. For instance, if you re suspecting that your applications are causing blocks, you can enable block capturing for a day or so then disable it. Result will be available from that day for you to analyze at any time. Here are some key features of "Teratrax Performance Monitor": · Monitor CPU, memory, and the I/O subsystem percentages · Monitor disk operations (reads/writes) and network traffic · Correlate system utilization with user connections and SQL code · Analyze and chart slow performing SQL statements and stored procedures · Report the cost (Duration, CPU time, & disk reads/writes) of each statement · Report the source of each statement (User, application, & computer) · Increase concurrency by detecting blocks (SQL code, origin, users, etc...) · Correlate the performance of SQL code and blocks with hardware utilization Limitations: · 7 days trial |

Performance Monitor is a program that precisely monitors the state of the system on a Pocket PC. It displays in real time the amount of memory used by the running programs (Main Memory) and the amount of memory used by the installed programs (Program Memory). It displays in graph format, updated every second, the processor activity of your Pocket PC, allowing you to check load peaks. It will also show a message when it considers (arbitrarily) that a program is consuming too much CPU power and will prompt you to close it. However, this window is often in the background. Performance Monitor can also show the running threads on the Pocket PC but doesnt make the distinction between a thread in a program and the program in general. Performance Monitor is also incapable of showing the priority level given to each thread, and is satisfied to give fragmented information on the execution time of the threads. This information is only displayed, it is impossible to interact with it, such as closing the threads. Lastly, Performance Monitor can be minimised in the task bar of the Pocket PC (the bar at the bottom) and provides a condensed display that allows via colour coding, to continue to monitor the processor activity. As for the general display, the percentage of activity can not be set (it is just an assessment using the colour conventions and the height of the display bars). |

Orion lets you not only monitor availability and utilization but manage and report on you SLA's. The Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) from SolarWinds combines live fault management network maps with a very robust web based bandwidth performance graphing engine as well as real-time and historical reports. The Orion NPM is a full featured fault and bandwidth performance management application that allows you 7x24 access to alerts and bandwidth utilization via any web browser. Orion will send an alert to your phone or pager to moment a network performance issue occurs. Like all SolarWinds Networking tools, the Orion NPM installs in minutes and allows you to begin viewing results in less than an hour. Orion's Network Maps allow you to graphically view the status of your network. The report writer lets you produce detailed weekly and monthly availability reports. The Orion NPM utilizes SNMP & ICMP and does not require installation of any additional hardware or software agents on your network. The customizable fault management alerting capability of the Orion NPM will give you the piece of mind knowing you will be the first to be alerted of a network outage or performance issue.) Since Orion is web based, your engineers, managers or customers can all have immediate access to the current status of the network. You have the power to customize each users (or customers) logon to allow them to only view only "their piece" of the network. Network Equipment Performance Monitor project monitors and reports uptime, critical events and their predecessors, bytes-served rates, access rates and error rates for network node equipment. Hardware and software elements within the nodes are tracked and reported separately to make possible rapid fault isolation. It is a very general, highly configurable, two-part software system that captures and analyzes logged performance data from IP-networked equipment and reports it via email and Web pages. Current conditions and history from systems based on Windows NT/2000, Unix, and Unix-style operating systems can be tracked and reported. Most major server, switch and router systems can be monitored, without running agents on the target systems. NEPM itself is system-independent and can be hosted on either a Unix or Win NT system or a combination of these with equal ease. Whats New in This Release: MANAGEMENT CONSOLES & REPORTS · It is now possible to fully manage NEPM from a single browser session: The two separate management consoles have been unified into a single one. · The reports are now linked and viewed in the same browser session that manages the rest of NEPM, further simplyfying and streamlining the user interface. · Reports are now served from the same internal web server as the Management Console eliminating the need for an additional web server to serve the reports. · The Management Console is now always instantly available for faster, easier access. It installs and runs automatically as a service in Windows or as a daemon in Linux/UNIX. · The user interface has been further simplified by turning off secondary, less important, sections of configuration information, making it possible for the user to focus on the primary parameters. These hidden sections display with a mouse click. · The choice of Courier directory for transfering captured log files between Courier and Builder is fixed and no longer configurable in the Mangement Console. It can still be configured directly in the control files themselves for use from the command line. · The Managment Console now *requires* Courier control files to have a .ccf extension and Builder control files to have a .bcf extension. Control files with any extension (or none) may still be used from the command line and a text editor. · Restored . to directory names in the data path now that reports no longer might be served by IIS, undoing this change made in release 2.0 INSTALL · Create a Windows Favorite for NEPMLE on install. · NEPM now is setup and started as an automatic service during install for continous availability. · Improved the directory structure and scripting for more robust install and uninstall on Windows. · Fixed a problem that was preventing the TargSys components from installing automatically in some cases. |
