Terminal Themes are a collection of templates in snazzy colors for the Terminal application in OS X.

Recently there have been a lot of utilities released that bill themselves as telnet launchers, etc. Most of them cost money.
Many people dont realize that the same thing can be accomplished simply by editing ".term" files and dropping them in a certain location. Whats more, with .term files you are not limited to telnet or ssh sessions. Any terminal command can be excecuted from the .term file. Also, you can set the font, the color schemes, the window title, the window transparency, and more for each session in a term file.

That said, it can be a bit of a task to create these .term files from scratch. For that reason, Wooden Brain Concepts is releasing our personal collection of .term file templates, with some explanation about how to install and edit them.

CTWM Themes System in short CTS is a set of CTWM configuration files and shell scripts that adds basic themes-like capabilities to your ctwm window manager.

CTS caracteristics:

· themes are split into look themes and feel themes. Look themes change colors and visual aspect of the window manager, and feel themes change the way you move or place windows, open the menus, etc.
· automatically generated menus allows you to switch look or feel themes. Your choice is saved for your future X sessions.
· you can change the background image used with the current look theme using a menu generated from the images stored in the Backgrounds directory.
· adding a new theme is as easy as unpacking it in the Themes-Look or Themes-Feel directory and restarting ctwm.

How does it work ?

The CTS package provides a .ctwm directory you must place in your home directory.
This directory provides a ctwmrc file that will include other configuration files from the include directory and from the themes directories. Using the m4 preprocessor, the configuration files will read the Themes-Look and Themes-Feel directories and the Backgrounds directory and generate menus allowing you to switch themes and background images.

When you choose a theme in the menus, CTWM calls the "settheme" script that simply change the $HOME/.ctwm/Themes-*/Current link to the new selected theme directory.

The wallpapers are switched using the "setbg" script that change the root windows wallpaper, and place a link to the image in the directory of the current look theme.
The script supports multiple screens, so if you have multiple screens, using the menu will change the wallpaper of the current screen.

Whats New in This Release:

· This version provides many minor enhancements, file name changes, and better themes, but above all, themes are now split into two kinds: "look themes" that change the visual aspects of the window manager, and "feel themes" that change the key bindings, the way windows are raised, etc.

gnome-themes is a GNOME theme manager.

All the a11y themes in this module inherit from the gnome theme. The gnome theme is in the gnome-icon-theme module, and has to be built and installed separately.

1. Editing the gtkrc files

The gtkrc.in files for each a11y theme are currently generated by autogen.sh. Each gtkrc.in file is the concatenation of these files:

$theme/gtk-2.0/$theme.rc
common/gtk-stock-icons.rc
common/panel-stock-icons.rc
common/media-stock-icons.rc
common/capplet-stock-icons.rc

It follows that you should NOT edit gtkrc.in directly. Instead, edit the appropriate .rc file, then re-autogen before building. This obviously kind of sucks, but it was the only way I could get it to work at the time :/

2. Adding new icons

The module is currently configured to make it easy to add or remove a stock icon from all themes at once, but not so easy to do so on a per-theme basis. This works well for now but probably wont if we want to make this a more general theme repository.

So, to add a new gtk stock icon to all themes:

- Add the icons filename to common/all-stock-items.data
- Add the line you want to appear in the themes RC files to the appropriate common/*.rc file
- Add the icon files, each with the same filename, to all the <theme> theme> /pixmaps/ directories.

GNOME icons that are themed via the icon theming mechanism (as specified on freedesktop.org) are currently still added individually in each < theme >/icons subdirectory. E.g. to add a new 48x48 application icon to all the themes, you have to modify each < theme >/icons/48x48/apps/Makefile.am individually, and add the appropriate icon file to each < theme >/icons/48x48/apps directory.

3. Changing icon sizes

The icon sizes for ALL the LargePrint themes are defined in configure.in. Changing them here will affect all LargePrint themes.

4. Changing colours

To change the colours in a particular theme, edit its /gtk-2.0/ .rc file.

5. Switching icon themes

In 2.2 and later, use gnome-theme-manager, and choose the Icon theme from the Details subdialog.

In earlier versions of GNOME, unless youre running my patched theme switcher dialog (patch in bugzilla,
#93486), youll need to switch icon themes by hand using GConf:

$ gconftool-2 -s /desktop/gnome/interface/icon_theme " " --type=string

6. To create low contrast icons in GIMP from the original coloured icon

Use the low-contrast-preset.scm GIMP script in this directory to create a low contrast icon from a regular-coloured icon. (Read the comments in the script for instructions on how to install and use it.) Thanks to Guillermo for providing this!

Note: In GIMP, Input=0/0.6/255, Output=75/255 seems to give results closer to the icons Suzanna converted in Photoshop, but plugging these values into this script seems to give different results from doing it manually in the Levels dialog :/

What is Magic Themes?

With Magic Themes, your old Sony Ericsson P800 will look like a new P900, because now you can use P900 themes (UTZ files) right on the device! It sounds unbelievable, but it is true.

Magic Themes is a useful utility that allows you to change almost everything on your smartphone. This includes about 60 screen elements look, and background images for almost every interface element. You can paint windows, menus, control elements, dialogs, buttons, scrollbars and labels. Use your own pictures to give dialogs, menus, buttons, backgrounds a new, vivid look. Import thousands of UTZ files (P900 themes) available today. Our advanced interface lets you make every action in a very simple way. Not only for pleasure, you can create and use special themes for different daylight conditions (i.e. more contrast or bright). With Magic Themes, changing the system bitmaps becomes a piece of cake.

Note that Magic Themes works on Sony Ericsson P800 only. Do not install it on Motorola devices!

Quick Start

In most cases, you will want to import a ready P900 theme and use it on your P800 smartphone. How to do this? What should you know? Here are the steps.

1. Download any P900 theme from the Internet. This is a file with .utz extension. Of course, you may download as many themes as you wish. There are lots of sites with themes collections.
2. Copy it (them) to your device. Note: when uploading (importing) UTZ themes, be sure to store them in the Mail folders or in C:DocumentsMedia filesdocument or D:Media filesdocument folders!
3. Run Magic Themes, go to Tools > Import menu.
4. Magic Themes will scan folders and show a list of UTZ files found.
5. Check the necessary themes and tap Done. You may use Import all button to import all found themes as well.
6. Now, in the themes list, select the necessary theme and tap button. Thats all!

How to work?

This part is for experienced users who want to edit themes on device, change colors and images, and create new themes.

Working with Magic Themes is easy and intuitively. Our advanced theme editor will satisfy every fastidious user.

Magic Themes main screen shows a list of available themes. Here you can create a new theme, edit an existing one or set a selected scheme. Lets learn how to edit system colors with Magic Themes. So, select any scheme to edit (or view).

Youll see a screen presenting the theme that has all OS interface elements shown. You can either tap a desired element or select it from the list. In both cases, youll see the affected elements blinking.

Now just pick any color from the palette. You may also use jog dial to scroll the palette. If you prefer to enter RGB values, just do it in an ordinary way. Youll see how the selected color paints the rectangle below. Thats how you can transfer , for example, your Windows desktop scheme.

Working with graphics. Creating, editing P800 themes

Behind the More button... Magic Themes allows you to use (and easily change) bitmaps for: System Bar, ApPicker Bar, Appicker Hoop, Menu Bar background, Menu Title Highlight, Menu Item Highlight, Menu Item Highlight Selected, Menu Pane Background, Menu Pane Separator, Menu Pane Adornments, Un-pressed Dialog Title, Pressed Dialog Title, Listboxes Highlight, Option and Checkbox buttons, FC Balls, FC Background, FC Title Bar backrgound, ScreenSaver, AppList wallpaper (only for the List mode!). (This is not a necessary, however). You should create corresponding pictures in any graphics format (bmp, jpeg, gif, png, mbm).

You can use your desktop PC and any Themes Editor, for example, Sony Ericsson Themes Creator or VITO ThemeEditor for P900. However this is not necessary as you can create and edit themes directly on your device with Magic Themes. We also recommend you to read Sony Ericsson Themes developers guide to learn about themes.

To change/delete/add an image, just tap a corresponding picture and youll see a pop-up menu (Replace/Delete).

Note: P900 doesnt support these elements, so you can get our default picture file and use it. This file contains 4 pages: check box elements, check box mask, option elements, option mask.

App background:
Any image for Applist wallpaper, 208x254 pixels. Note it will work only in "View as list" mode.

Screen saver:
Any image for screen saver, up to 208x320 pixels. You can also use animated GIFs, in that case the screen saver will be animated.

You can work with any graphics editor and use any pictures that you like.

When everything is ready, upload these pictures to your device. Open Magic Themes, select a scheme to edit. Now tap More button. Youll see image selectors for all supported pictures. Select all the necessary pictures.

Finally, tap Set button. Your theme is applied!

Note: when uploading (importing) themes, be sure to store them in the Mail folders or in C:DocumentsMedia filesdocument or D:Media filesdocument folders!

Attention: unregistered version works with background images within 21 days only. After expiration, youll not be able to use images.

UTZ support

Magic Themes almost fully supports P900 themes stored in UTZ files. However there exist some incomplete UTZ files with some missing elements. We cannot guarantee that Magic Themes will support all existing UTZ files.

Memory usage

Disk space. Magic Themes uses it own compressed format for storing the themes. So they wont waste too much space.

RAM space. You should know that more graphics requires more RAM. Animated screensavers eat more RAM than the static ones.

With Magic Themes, you can make a perfect gift for your friends, family members or beloved. For example, make a romantic color scheme in rose tones, name it My sweet rose then send it! This will be a wonderful surprise for a person who will always remember you while working with the smartphone.

Of course, every color scheme can be edited, saved, copied and sent via IR/BT/Email/MMS. Thats the way you can share your art with people.

At last but not at least, Magic Themes is the easiest way to single out your phone of a mass of ordinary devices.

Note: if you want to create a standard-based theme, use Tools > Set default, then Theme > New > Based on current commands.

Compatibility and important warnings. Uninstallation

Version 2.1 fully supports P800 (color settings and bitmap handling).

Please do not try to install Magic Themes on other clone devices (such as Motorola A920/A925)! It will crash your device. However, we always recommend installing the program on D: drive (Memory Stick card). In case you have any problems, remove Memory Stick card, boot up your phone, wait 2 minutes (this is important!), then insert the card, and then uninstall Magic Themes.

To uninstall Magic Themes:
1. Go to Tools > Set default menu to return to your default scheme (however you may skip this step if you like to leave current color settings).
2. Uninstall the program as usual.
3. Turn off the phone, then turn it on again. This will remove the resident part of Magic Themes from RAM.
