ToolTips will let you display ToolTips where, when and exactly how you want it. A single control will handle unlimited multiple tooltips, identified by a string tipID. ToolTips can be customized for text, colour, font, size, position and behaviour.
They can automatically time out, or be unloaded manually. Events are fired for mouse actions and the unloading of a tooltip. ToolTips for which size is not specified will autosize to the text content, those for which position is not specified will appear next to the mouse pointer.
The control itself only has colour, font and behaviour properties. All other settings are individual for tooltips, and are set as optional parameters for the ShowToolTip method, which displays a new tooltip returning its tipID. Parameters of an exisiting ToolTip can be changed using the ChangeToolTip method.

This program allows you to copy the content of most of the Tooltips that appear on UI of typical Windows applications. The proggie is simple, and of course, it has its limitations (not all the tooltips can be "caught"), but... I hope some of you may find it useful (SQA engineers, for instance).
This proggie intercepts the text from all Tooltips based on standard tooltips_class32 class (ANSI version only - I was too lazy to implement the Unicode part, but you shouldnt have a problem with it. After all, we all love doing homework ;)
The coolest thing: system-wide WH_CALLWNDPROC hook is set without DLL!

In one of my projects (IUST University Network Library Program), I needed a customizable tooltip that supports Right To Left (RTL), Unicode Strings and custom fonts. Building a real working tooltip seems to be very easy, but I tell you that its not such an easy thing that it seems to be. There are lots of details and exceptions that you must handle them. I tried to make a stuff that I can use it in my other project simply. I didnt like it to be an ActiveX so the final result is a single form that you can add it simply to your Visual Basic projects. You can assign tooltips by adding at least a single line of code to MouseMove event handler of desired control. The source code includes a test form that will guide you to use this tool.
