Dropped connections. Bad voice quality on VoIP calls. Slow FTP performance. Bad "lag" when using Citrix. Slow downloads. These are all symptoms of network latency and packet loss, and its often hard to determine where the problem originates. Traceroute-Express tiny offers a powerful mechanism to see the network and pinpoint the problem from your workstation - allowing network professionals fast and easy access to routing and performance information on their networks. Traceroute-Express tiny is a lightweight network troubleshooting, diagnostic and monitoring software. It can run in the background collecting data while you continue to run applications and then allow you to quickly look at the data in an intuitive graphical format when you experience problems (reduced call quality for VoIP, slowdowns or disconnects with applications, etc.). Traceroute-Express tiny is also great at allowing you to collect data over time to give you the information you really need to identify intermittent problems and allowing you to see both short-term and long-term trends. Traceroute-Express tiny allows you to "See the network", and "Pinpoint problems" by taking traceroute, ping, location lookup and whois to a new level. Its fast, and the graphical aspects make it easy to quickly see where a problem is occuring. Statistics, and numerous other features give the you the extra power you need to find and troubleshoot problems. Here are some key features of "Traceroute Express tiny": Easy to use · Easy to use! Traceroute-Expresss basic mode means you just type in the address you want information about and hit "Trace". It starts tracing and shows you a graph. Someone with no network experience can see where their packets are being dropped, and then contact their ISP with this information. High performance · Traceroute-Express doesnt wait for hop 1 to respond before sending out a request to hop 2. A complete 1 sample trace can be done in about 5-10% of the time it takes to do a trace with the Windows "TRACERT" command (usually less than 1 second for Traceroute-Express vs 15-45 seconds for Tracert). Play-out algorithm simulation · We study the delay characteristics of voice packets that share a transmission medium with bursty data traffic. In order to model the data traffic accurately, we used real data traffic traces upon which we superimposed simulated voice sources generating real time traffic at a constant rate. Our simulation environment allows us to easily develop and compare different adaptive algorithms for the play-out delay of voice streams. We motivate and compare the performance of algorithms based on exponential smoothing techniques. E-Model & MOS · Calculate MOS score. Delivered E-Mode, Applying E-model on Ie gives the R factor whose value ranges from 0 to 100 (100 is the best, 0 is the worst). R factor mapping to MOS values is shown at the end. The Ie factor incorporates the effects of codec, jitter, packet loss, packet loss distribution, and recency. The preferred place to passively monitor for these values is the VOIP codec. Here you know the codec type, jitter buffer size, and post-jitter buffer packet loss events. Traceroute-Express is supported 12 codec types(G.711,G.711 PLC,G.723.1 5.3k,G.723.1 6.3k,G.726 16k,G.726 24k,G.726 32k,G.726 40k,G.728 16k,G.729,G.729A,GSM FR (6.10)) and play-out algorithm and etc. |

Layer Four Traceroute gives you a sort of traceroute that often works much faster (than the commonly-used Van Jacobson method) and goes through many configurations of packet-filter based firewalls. More importantly, LFT implements numerous other features including AS number lookups, loose source routing, netblock name lookups, et al. Though LFT has been around since 1998, its development effort has just recently resumed. LFT is the all-in-one traceroute tool because it can launch a variety of different probes using both UDP and TCP layer-4 protocols. For example, rather than only launching UDP probes in an attempt to elicit ICMP "TTL exceeded" from hosts in the path, LFT can send TCP SYN or FIN probes to target arbitrary services. Then, LFT listens for "TTL exceeded" messages, TCP RST (reset), and various other interesting heuristics from firewalls or other gateways in the path. LFT also distinguishes between TCP-based protocols (source and destination), which make its statistics slightly more realistic, and gives a savvy user the ability to trace protocol routes, not just layer-3 (IP) hops. With LFTs verbose output, much can be discovered about a target network. |

Trace Route Wizard allows a programmer to trace the route a packet must take to get to any specified address(IP or FQDN). It is very intuitive and straight forward. Fully ActiveX compliant, Trace Route Wizard also is setup to be used excellently in ASP scripted pages, or any ActiveX compliant scriptable languages because it has methods that utilize events and special methods that let you step through the process. You also get an immense amount of information regarding each Hop and also supports multiple attempts per hop. All of the functionality of the program that comes with Windows tracert.exe plus much more. You get information like: Time To Live of Returned Packets Packet Data Size of returned packets Round Trip Time of hop attempts Average, Minimum, and Maximum Round Trip Times of entire Hops plus much more You can also set how everything happens, like: Amount of time to wait per Hop attempt How many attempts per Hop Maximum Hops to check Amount of data to send in trace packets plus much more A lot of computer users know about the TraceRt program that comes with windows and Unix. It is a handy tool for figuring out where the network latency is coming from by show the exact path a packet has to take from the local machine to the target server. By looking at each step in the path, you can see where the packet is getting tied up and which routers are overloaded or antiquated. TraceRoute Wizard gives you all of this power and lets you put it right into your application. It is great for network monitoring applications, network diagnostics, latency checkups, and many more projects. This control works with any ActiveX container and even works in ActiveX scriptable languages such as VBScript Limitations: Support for ASP disabled |
