Here are some key features of "Translate Toolkit":

· Work with ONE localisation format. You ll no longer be editing DTD files in one tools, .properties in another, OpenOffice GSI in a third. Simply do all your localisation in a PO editor
· Converters for a number of formats: OpenOffice.org SDF/GSI, .properties, DTD, XHTML, .inc, .ini, Comma Seperated Value, TMX, XLIFF, TBX
· Output VALID target file types. We make sure that your output files (eg .properties) contain all comments from the original file and preserves the layout of the original as far as possible. If your PO entry is marked as fuzzy we use the English text, not your half complete translation. The convetors for OpenOffice.org and Mozilla formats will also perform simple checks and corrections to make sure you have none of those hard to find localisation bugs.
· Our checker has over 39 checks to find errors such as: missing or translated variables, missing accelerator keys, bad escaping, start capitalisation, missing setences, bad XML and much more.
· Find conflicting translations easily, cases where you have translated a source word differently or used a target word for 2 very different English concepts
· Extract messages using simple text or a regular expresion allowing you to quickly find and extract words that you need to fix due to glossary changes.
· Merge snippets of PO files into your existing translations.
· Create word, string and file counts of your PO files. Making it much easier to budget time as string counts do not give you a good indication of expected work.
· Create a set of PO files with debuging entries to allow you to easily locate the source of translations. Very useful in OpenOffice.org which provides scant clues as to where the running application has sourced the message.

The PO tools allow you to manipulate and work with PO files

· pocompile - create an MO (Machine Object) file from a PO file
· poconflict - extract messages that have conflicting translation
· pocount - Count words and string in PO files
· podebug - Add debug strings to messages
· pofilter - filter PO files to find common errors using a number of tests
· pogrep - find strings in your PO files
· pomerge - merge file extracted using pofilter back into the original files
· porestructure - restructures po files according to poconflict directives
· lookupserver - a server that can be queried with XML-RPC to lookup strings in a storage format

Scripts

The scripts are for working with and manipulating PO files. Unlike the tools which are written in Python, the scripts are written in bash. They are not installed on your system as part of the toolkit but need to be downloaded from CVS and manually installed.

Whats New in This Release:

· Almost all storage classes have been migrated to the projects base class.
· The base class should make it easier to add new formats in the future.
· Major work was done to move escaping into the storage classes and to roundtrip escaping.
· Many many unit tests were added to check compliance.
· Many bugs were fixed.
· The DTD format is no longer escaped, and it follows the DTD spec correctly.
· .properties files are no longer used escaped Unicode, following the Mozilla convention.
· Duplicates are merged by default using the PO method of merging locations.

Translate uses Googles Translate, to translate the text you enter into another language.

Explanation on how to enter the language options are explained in Help, which can be got by clicking the "?".

The translated page opens in a new window - leaving the original page intact for the reference.

12 languages are supported at the moment: Chinese Simplified, Chinese Traditional, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Greek, and Dutch.

Translate Selection description
Maxthon add-on that will translate the text you select from your current webpage in a new window It will open a new window with the text translated. If you click on the plugin and theres no text selected, you will be asked to enter the text that you want to translate in a dialog box.

If you want to change the language to translate, go to the plugin folder, edit translate_selection.htm and see the comments.

Please note: English Polish and English Serbian translations work with one word only. Also, the plugin doesnt work for Chinese and others languages that require UTF-8.

LEC Translate DotNet is a useful translation utility that will come in handy.

LEC Translate DotNet Translate DotNet is the LEC subscription translation service. You are welcome to install the applications for translation on as many computers as you wish. The actual translations are done on LEC server machines across the internet. Translate DotNet gives you the ability to translate in any of 256 language pairs for as low as 5 dollars a month.

You dont even have to click a button.

TransIt creates instant translation as you type. When you work with instant messages, chats, emails, and forms, simply type in your language and have it entered in another language.

MirrorTrans shows you any window on your desktop in another language. You create a correspondence between MirrorTrans and the window to be translated, and MirrorTrans automatically translates in real time.
