User Profile Hive Cleanup Service 1.6d helps you to deal with slow log off and unreconciled profile problems, which can make sure user sessions to be completely removed when a user logs off. System processes and applications occasionally maintain connections to registry keys in the user profile after a user logs off. In those cases the user session is prevented from completely ending. This can result in problems when using Roaming User Profiles in a server environment or when using locked profiles as implemented through the Shared Computer Toolkit for Windows XP.
On Windows 2000 you can benefit from this service if the application event log shows event id 1000 where the message text indicates that the profile is not unloading and that the error is "Access is denied". On Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 either event ids 1517 and 1524 indicate the same profile unload problem. To accomplish this the service monitors for logged off users that still have registry hives loaded. When that happens the service determines which application have handles opened to the hives and releases them. It logs the application name and what registry keys were left open. After this the system finishes unloading the profile.Requirements:

If a user is logging off and the user profile hive is not unloading and UPHClean is stopped it is possible that a STOP CE could occur. To avoid this UPHClean delays has been modified to only complete its cleanup to when it is being uninstalled.
Fixed error in UPHClean that could cause STOP 93 when protected handles were closed.
Added registry setting DISABLEREGFLUSHKEY. This setting prevents user profile unload from causing a registry flush to disk. In some cases poor performance affecting user application in other sessions can occur from doing this flushing. The setting defaults to 0 which has no effect. Setting it to 1 prevents user profile unload from causing registry flushing.

REMProf has the ability to delete user profiles on the local machine based on age, username, or SID association. If a username has been deleted from a Domain or Workgroup, the profile often still exists with only a SID assigned to identify it.
REMProf can delete these profiles completely from the file system and registry regardless of the profile age, and without removing existing profiles of the same age.
This tool could be simply run from the command line at any time, or added
as a SCHEDULED TASK for regular cleaning of user profiles, reducing the
overall disk space used for locally based profiles.
REMPROF will only function when executed by a user with ADMIN rights to the
profile directory.
