Versamap is supplied with an enhanced version of Micro World Data Bank II which contains boundaries for the new countries that have formed from the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia, for Eritrea, for Canadian Provinces, and for Australian States. More detailed digital maps from the CIAs World Data Bank II and from the usgs Digital Line Graph database may be purchased from the author. Individual geographic features, such as coastlines, rivers, islands, and political boundaries, can be plotted from Micro World Data Bank II, World Data Bank II, and the usgs Digital Line Graphs. The program can also plot data supplied by the user in a simple ASCII file format. Text may be added to maps using any Windows font. maps can be output directly to a printer, or exported as BMP, WMF, CGM, DXF, PIC, or ASCII files.
Concatenate is a plug-in filter for Adobe Illustrator that connects two or more paths into one continuous path. You tell it how close the endpoints should be and by how many degrees their angle can differ to combine the paths, and whether to average the endpoints together. Its especially useful for cleaning up CAD drawings and usgs maps.
DeLorme Topo USA 7.0 continues to lead the way with advanced capabilities that provide a more meaningful outdoor experience. In addition to the highly-detailed Topo USA and DeLorme Street Network maps, you can access a wide variety of indispensable map, chart, and imagery choices from USGS, NOAA, and other sources.
Versamap draws outline maps on 14 map projections. The program allows users to print publication quality maps on any printer supported by Windows; and to export your maps in vector graphics (DXF, WMF, ASCII, CGM) and bitmap (BMP) formats.

The program plots Great Circles between user selected endpoints, and reports course and distance at points along the Great Circle. Versamap also reports map parameters and scale errors at selected points on the map.
Versamap is designed to plot outline maps of areas larger than about 200 miles (320 km) on a side. The program is not designed to plot maps of small areas, such as city maps.
Versamap requires Windows 3.1 or higher, and has an uninstall option that allows you to remove the program from your hard drive.
Limitations:
· Can only use fixed type fonts for map annotations

· See TIGER/Line streets
· See elevation and contour lines
· Add waypoints, routes, and text
· Go to any address, populated place, usgs landmark, or lat/lon in the U.S.A.
· Transfer waypoints, tracks, and routes to and from most GPS receivers
See your GPS location
So, USAPhotoMaps is a smart and powerful application that downloads U.S.Geological Survey aerial photos / topos from http://terraserver-usa.com/ (available at no charge, courtesy of Microsoft) and creates a map from them.
To download aerial photos, select File -Download Map Data -Fill Screen (or press the F key).
When the screen has filled with photos, youve begun your map! To enlarge it, zoom out and/or scroll the map. Then select File -Download Map Data -Fill Screen again.
1 meter/pixel photos will be downloaded if the Zoom level is 1 thru zoomed-to-8. 8 meters/pixel photos will be downloaded if the Zoom level is 8 thru 64.
Photo/topo data is saved on your computers hard drive after each row is downloaded.

The geo-referencing software that views Earthvisions, Inc.s rasterized usgs topo maps. The full featured demo ships with one map to view. The software can be simply used to get your exact geographic location from a map. The software has powerful marking of both locations and map views. There are also distance and area calculators which work across map borders. G-REF can show an area which you must have map data for at any of eight zoom levels at any one time. This software is a dream for any outdoor enthusiast, as well as, engineers how need maps at the scales provided by the USGS.
Versamap draws outline maps on 16 map projections. The program allows users to print publication quality maps; and to export maps in vector graphic (WMF, CGM, DXF, ASCII) and bitmapped (BMP) formats.
Versamap is supplied with digital maps from the Versamap Micro World Database, a world map with 220,000 points in 10 geographic features.
Versamap may be ordered with more detailed digital maps from:
(1) World Data Bank II, a world map with 6 million points in 36 geographic features; and from the
(2) usgs Digital Line Graphs, a map of the 50 United States with 7 million points in 72 geographic features.
Individual geographic features, such as coastlines, rivers, islands, and political boundaries, can be plotted from these digital map databases.
The program allows users to plot their own data (as lines or symbols) in a simple ASCII format, and to display labels next to their data points.
Text may be added to maps with any TrueType font. Each text string can have a different font, and can be rotated in 1 degree increments.
Versamap plots great circles between user selected endpoints, and displays course and distance at points along the great circle. You map print a Great Circle Report listing the course and distance at way points along the great circle, or save the report as a rich text file (RTF).
The program plots small circles around a user selected point. You may select the number of concentric small circles to be plotted, and the distance between small circles.
Versamap displays map parameters and scale errors at selected points on the map. You may print the Map Parameter Report, or save the report as a rich text file (RTF).
Versamap is designed to plot outline maps of areas larger than about 200 miles (320 km) on a side. The program is not designed to plot maps of small areas, such as city maps.

Hardware fonts for PostScript printers, X11 fonts for X11 displays and TrueType fonts for Windows 95/98/NT displays and WMF files can also be used. The different aphabets contain Roman, Greek, Russian, mathematical and special European characters. Plotting of mathematical formulas with TeX instructions. - Plotting of two- and three-dimensional axis systems. Axes can be linearly or logarithmically scaled and labeled with linear, logarithmic, date, time, map and user-defined formats. - Plotting of curves. Several curves can appear in one axis system and can be differentiated by colour, line style and pattern. Multiple axis systems can be displayed on a page. - Plotting of legends. - Elementary plot routines for lines, vectors and outlined or filled regions such as rectangles, circles, arcs, ellipses and polygons. - Shielded regions can be defined. - Business graphics. - 3-D colour graphics. - 3-D graphics. - Elementary image routines. - Geographical projections and plotting of maps. - Contouring. - Graphical user interface (GUI) routines based on Motif and Windows API functions. - English manuals in PostScript, PDF and HTML format are available..
