DownloadHelper is a free and useful tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.
Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item
For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, youll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm and others.
When you are on a page containing links to images or movies, you can download some or all of them at once. Moving the mouse over the items in the menu will highlights the links directly in the page to make sure they are the ones you want to pick up.
DownloadHelper also allows you to download files one by one, so that you keep bandwidth to surf for other stuff to download.
If you are on a page containing video, but you dont get a download offer from DownloadHelper, right-click on the icon and choose "Check URL", requests will be done to http://videodownloader.net and http://keepvid.com. Allow a few seconds and new entries may appear in the menu.
For downloads with VideoDownloader and KeepVid, you must rename the downloaded files to add the appropriate extension (generally .flv).
To modify your preferences, like changing the download directory, right-click on the icon and choose "Preferences".
When you first install the extension, your browser is redirected to a welcome page with links to a user manual at http://www.indigen.com/dwhelper/using.en.htm and a faq at http://www.indigen.com/dwhelper/faq.en.htm
This does not change your homepage setting and the welcome page wont appear anymore.

UnPlug is an extenstion which lets you save video and audio which is embedded on a webpage.
UnPlug scans web pages and tells you where things like media players and other embedded objects are getting their data from, and displays it as a simple hyperlink: in most cases, you can then follow the simple download link to save the media file.
UnPlug will work for lots of sites including myspace.com, youtube.com, current.tv, iflim.com and revver.com
UnPlug is different from the VideoDownloader extension - The Videodownloader extension takes you to the videodownloader.com website, which then tells you where the video is kept based on the websites address. UnPlug will search whats on the page for where the video is using a few different methods. It can also ask videodownloader.com or keepvid.com for their help too.
