CMake 2.4.7

CMake 2.4.7

A free, cross-platform and open-source make system more>>
A free, cross-platform and open-source make system CMake is used to control the software compilation process using simple platform and compiler independent configuration files.
CMake generates native makefiles and workspaces that can be used in the compiler environment of your choice.
CMake is quite sophisticated: it is possible to support complex environments requiring pre-processor generation, system configuration, code generation, and template instantiation.
CMake was developed by Kitware as part of the NLM Insight Segmentation and Registration Toolkit project. The ASCI VIEWS project also provided support in the context of their parallel computation environment. Other sponsors include the Insight, VTK, and VXL open source software communities.
The goals for CMake include the following:
- Develop an open source, cross-platform tool to manage the build process,
- Allow the use of native compilers and systems,
- Simplify the build process,
- Optionally provide a user-interface to manage the build system,
- Create an extensible framework,
- Grow a self-sustaining community of software users and developers.
Main features:
- Supports complex, large build environments. CMake has been proven in several large projects.
- Generates native build files (e.g., makefiles on Unix; workspaces/projects on MS Visual C++). Therefore standard tools can be used on any platform/compiler configuration.
- Has powerful commands include the ability to locate include files, libraries, executables; include external CMake files that encapsulate standard functionality; interfaces to testing systems; supports recursive directory traversal with variable inheritance; can run external programs; supports conditional builds; supports regular expression expansion; and so on.
- Supports in-place and out-of-place builds. Multiple compilation trees are possible from a single source tree.
- Can be easily extended to add new features.
- CMake is open source.
- CMake operates with a cache designed to be interfaced with a graphical editor. The cache provides optional interaction to conditionally control the build process.

SkullyDoo 1.1

SkullyDoo 1.1

SkullyDoo is a portable and open source software aimed to 3D image segmentation and visualization with surface models more>>
SkullyDoo is a portable and open source software aimed to 3D image segmentation and visualization with surface models SkullyDoo is a portable and open source software aimed to 3D image segmentation and visualization with surface models.
The software was implemented C++ and has a versatile filter mechanism with TCL scripting language binding. The visualization was made with VTK, a powerful visualization framework.
SkullyDoo supports various image formats. DICOM support is avaliable (New!).
SkullyDoo is based on a Pipes & Filters architecture. The 3D images enters the pipeline on the left side, and by applying successive data transformations throughout the pipeline, a surface is obtained.
SkullyDoo was designed to satisfy the following requirements:
- The soft must provide an interactive visualization 3D environment. This requirement is accomplished with VTK visualization framework.
- The soft must provide an uniform interface to accomplish 3D image segmentation, without mattering about the segmentation Method. This requirement is accomplished using Object Oriented techniques and implementing the software with C++ language.
- The soft must provide an user friendly interface (GUI). FLTK was used for GUI construction.
- The soft must have an acceptable response time for algorithm execution, and for visualization tasks. C++ and VTK was the solution.
- The soft must be portable between different platforms. To accomplish this requirement, we implemented the soft in ANSI-C++, and using a portable configuration management scheme like CMake. Also, data structures were programmed using STL (Standard Template Library).
Main features:
- Loads various 3D images in multiple formats, in a slice per file or volume per file manner. The supported formats up to now are: Structured Points (vtk), BMP, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIFF, GeSigna (Human Project), RAW (telling all the loading parameters). Its planned the support in DICOM format (help will be appreciated).
- Visualize and interact with 3D images and surfaces trying to address real time data exploration. This item is carried out with VTK , a powerful visualization framework.
- You can Apply filters to images and surfaces. The filters forms a "mini-pipeline" in the main application pipeline, so the order of them can be exchanged, and their action can be undone. This filters are implemented in TCL, so new filters in execution time can be defined and applied without performance loss.
- You can apply different segmentation algorithms. Also, their parameters can be varied. Up to now, the implemented methods are:VoxelGrow (our proposed segmentation method), FastMarching (Level Sets). Its planned to bind every ITK segmentation method in the future.

Mesh Viewer 0.3.1

Mesh Viewer 0.3.1

An easy to use lightweight application for displaying three dimensional models (triangular meshes) from a variety of file format more>>
An easy to use lightweight application for displaying three dimensional models (triangular meshes) from a variety of file format Mesh Viewer uses OpenGL to render the models.
Mesh Viewer was born under the need for quickly displaying reconstructed triangulated meshes. The current version has been developed by Helmut Cantzler and a number of various contributors. The Mesh Viewer is based on an idea and an early elementary implementation from Craig Robertson.
Triangular meshes can be displayed texture mapped (optional with bilinear filtering), solid or as a wire frame (all lines or just the front lines). The surface normals of the triangles can be displayed optionally.
Loaded models can be rotated, translated and scaled (all done with the mouse). The model is lighted by multiple light sources. Viewpoints can be saved.
Screenshots of the model can be taken. The program is able to calculate the texture map for the 3D model.
Mesh Viewer supports the following 3D file formats:
- PMesh forma (used at the Vision group of the University of Edinburgh)
- GTS format (from the Gnu Triangulation Library)
- Geomview format (only format "OFF" or "COFF")
- PLY format (only ASCII format)
- VRML 1.0 format
- VRML 2.0 format (VRML97)
- Visualisation Toolkit VTK format (ASCII POLYDATA only)
- Alias Wavefront / Java 3D OBJ format (ASCII polygon data only).
System requirements:
- Mesh Viewer requires a 3-button mouse (or emulation) in order to rotate (left button), translate (middle button) and zoom (right button) the model.
- It is recommended to use a 3D acceleration graphics card for displaying models. This is specially important for displaying models with texture.
- Mesh Viewer requires an OpenGL library and a GUI library for displaying and interacting with the OpenGL module. (the Qt 3 library is included in the package)

VR-Render (Windows) 0.8

VR-Render (Windows) 0.8

Viewe, explore, & analyze 3D medical or scientific data. more>>

VR-Render (Windows) 0.8 is designed as a free IRCAD Image Viewer Software for Window users which is interactive system for planar and volume visualization allowing practitioners to quickly explore and analyze 3D medical or scientific data on a standard PC .

This software uses fast OpenGL graphics (ATI/NVidia) and is able to load a series of images stored in DICOM format (uncompressed and JPEG,) for medical review. Visualization tools include orthogonal MPR, volume rendering and multiple colormaps (automated conventional colormap and dedicated digestive surgery colormap). Analyzis tools include distance measurement tools and image processing operators. For astronomical research, FITS format is supported (only on MacOSX).

These software applications are built on top of multiple open source systems like boost (for basic system), wxWidgets (for GUI), gdcm (for loading DICOM) and itk/vtk/vtkinria3d (for segmentation and visualization).

Major Features:

  1. It allows to visualize DICOM, Jpeg, InrImage and Fits images in 2D slices (Frontal, Sagital and Axial view) or in 3D thanks to Multiplanar Rendering, MIPS and Volume rendering.
  2. Like all volume rendering systems, it requires a transfer function allowing to parameterize the 3D view.
  3. Several automatic rendering functions have been incorporated for CT-scan images in order to simplify the software use.
  4. VR-Render wins the first prize at the Biomedical Visualization Contest (MICCAI 2008).
