WEP Key Maker generates a hexadecimal WEP key from a pass phrase. IEEE 802.11b (aka Airport, Wi-Fi) uses a 104- or 40-bit (aka 128- and 64-bit) key to encode packets with WEP encryption. WEP Key Maker helps create hexadecimal keys which third party devices typically use. Generating such a key from a pass phrase makes it easy to create and reproduce a key without writing it down. The key can be copied from WEP Key Makers dialog and pasted directly into Airport dialogs and third-party software. WEP Key Maker also creates keys of other lengths. |

WEP Key Changer project, in short WepKC is a client/server application that allows you to protect your ad-hoc (point to point) wireless network when you are unable to use (due to software or hardware limitations) sophisticated protocols like WPA. The program consists out of two parts: the wepkcd daemon, which randomly changes the WEP key after a specified amount of time and sends the chosen key, encrypted with AES, to the wepkcc client the wepkcc client, which receives the key through the encrypted channel and changes the WEP key in the client machine The server also waits for packets ("pings") from the client, resetting the WEP key to a defined value when the client goes down and stops pinging the server. If someone tries to use the wireless network without contacting the server, the connection will be dropped repeatedly in order to prevent further annoyance from strangers (please note that this feature, at the moment, works only in *nix systems). And its very easy to setup and use. |

Some manufacturers build what are known as passphrase generators into their equipment. This basically allows the user to enter an easily remembered phrase and the equipment generates the WEP key based upon an algorithm built into the equipment... and there lies the rub. Every manufacturer seems to do it a bit differently, if they do it at all. There doesnt seem to be any kind of standard toward implementing WEP. This creates lots of problems when you are trying to connect devices from various manufacturers because the results from their built in passphrase generators are different across devices. With the WEP Key Generator Utility, you can generate keys based on a passphrase that is compatible with all wireless systems because all wireless network systems must support hexadecimal based keys. Instead of using the passphrase generator that is built into the router, or your wireless card on your laptop or PDA, you use the WEP Key Generator utility to generate the WEP keys and manually enter them into your wireless router settings and wireless network adapters. As you can imagine, this greatly simplifies the implementation of equipment from different manufacturers. Now you can easily use Orinoco, Netgear, and D-Link wireless cards with a Linksys, SMC or Belkin router / switch and not have to worry that one manufacturer uses ASCII based WEP keys and the other doesnt support it. You are not limited in your choice of equipment by brand. Not only do we support creating a key with a passphrase, we also have created a way to generate WEP keys based upon any particular file on your computer |

The Wi-Fi WEP Key Generator Utility is used to quickly and easily create more secure WEP keys than can be created by using the built in passphrase generators contained in Wi-Fi networking equipment. In a nutshell, a WEP key is a token of hexadecimal characters (from 40-bit to 256-bit, depending upon the equipment manufacturer, that provides an encryption key for data on your Wi-Fi network. Up until recently, the technology required to crack WEP keys has not been readily available. Now there are several tools available that allow hackers to crack WEP keys with far less effort. if you have a wireless network, you need to change your WEP (Wired Equivalency Privacy) keys often. This tool makes it easy and convenient to keep your Wi-Fi wireless network more secure. Wi-Fi WEP Key Generator runs under Windows 98/98se/NT/2000/XP. The Wi-Fi WEP Key Generator Utility also allows you to create WEP keys that work between manufacturers. Now you can use D-Link with Linksys with Netgear with Belkin with SMC, etc. and maintain your wireless networking security without worrying about equipment WEP key incompatibilities. |

aeswepd is UNIX daemon for changing WEP keys of WLAN devices in constant intervals. The WEP keys are calculated by encrypting the current UNIX time using the AES cypher with a given constant key. aeswepd strengthens the security of the weak hardware based, standards compliant WEP technology. aeswepd may use up to three hardware WEP keys: the first is set to the current, the second to the previous and the third to the next key. This is useful when working with not completely synchronized RTCs. If only a single hardware WEP key is used, you have to synchronize your RTCs so that no connectivity interrupts may occur. aeswepd has several advantages over other solutions to improve WEP: it is easy to use, doesnt involve computing intensive algorithms, doesnt increase traffic latency. On the other hand it has several disadvantages as well: it requires an installation of aeswepd on all network members, it is not standardized, currently only APs which run a flavour of Linux may be used with it. |

xwepgen lets Mac OS X users use WEP passphrases from nearly all non-Apple 802.11b software and hardware to connect to encrypted wireless networks. Devices connecting via encrypted 802.11b network use a WEP key to encrypt the data they send. An actual WEP key looks like: 57EAB0FF for a 40-bit (64-bit) link, and similar, though longer, for a 104-bit (128-bit) link. However, some 802.11b hardware and software (Apple products, many Linksys, Lucent, D-Link, and other products) have the user input a passphrase instead of an actual WEP key. These products then use some algorithm to convert the passphrase to a WEP key. The problem Mac users face is that Apples passphrase-to-key algorithm differs from the one used by most other products. Using xwepgen, Apple users can input a Linksys/DLink/Lucent/etc. passphrase, and get the WEP key to use in airport password dialogues. xwepgen is freely ditributed under the GNU General Public License. If you have any problems or questions, visit the projects Sourceforge page or e-mail apparissus@users.sourceforge.net. Usage: 1) Get the passphrase and encryption method (40-bit or 104-bit) from thenetwork admin. Also, if the encryption method is 40-bit, find out which WEP key (1 through 4) the network is using. If unsure, try 1 first, then try theothers. 2) Start xwepgen and enter the passphrase in the appropriate field. Click Generate WEP keys . 3) Tell your Mac to connect to the network, and where it requests the AirportPassword , enter the WEP key. Make sure the wep key begins with a $ . (For example, if my WEP key is 50FFA0FF, then I would enter $50FFA0FF).xwepgen inserts the $ for you by default. 4) Finally, click OK , Apply , or whatever s appropriate, and watch in wonder asyou connect to the Linksys/D-Link/Lucent/etc. network! Enjoy. |

Aircrack-ng is a set of tools for auditing wireless networks. · airodump: 802.11 packet capture program · aireplay: 802.11 packet injection program · aircrack: static WEP and WPA-PSK key cracker · airdecap: decrypts WEP/WPA capture files Aircrack-ng is the next generation of aircrack with lots of new features. How do I crack a static WEP key ? The basic idea is to capture as much encrypted traffic as possible using airodump. Each WEP data packet has an associated 3-byte Initialization Vector (IV): after a sufficient number of data packets have been collected, run aircrack on the resulting capture file. aircrack will then perform a set of statistical attacks developped by a talented hacker named KoreK. How do I know my WEP key is correct ? There are two authentication modes for WEP: Open-System Authentication: this is the default mode. All clients are accepted by the AP, and the key is never checked: association is always granted. However if your key is incorrect you wont be able to receive or send packets (because decryption will fail), so DHCP, ping etc. will timeout. Shared-Key Authentication: the client has to encrypt a challenge before association is granted by the AP. This mode is flawed and leads to keystream recovery, so its never enabled by default. In summary, just because you seem to have successfully connected to the access point doesnt mean your WEP key is correct ! To check your WEP key, try to decrypt a capture file with the airdecap program. How many IVs are required to crack WEP ? WEP cracking is not an exact science. The number of required IVs depends on the WEP key length, and it also depends on your luck. Usually, 40-bit WEP can be cracked with 300.000 IVs, and 104-bit WEP can be cracked with 1.000.000 IVs; if youre out of luck you may need two million IVs, or more. Theres no way to know the WEP key length: this information is kept hidden and never announced, either in management or data packets; as a consequence, airodump can not report the WEP key length. Thus, it is recommended to run aircrack twice: when you have 250.000 IVs, start aircrack with "-n 64" to crack 40-bit WEP. Then if the key isnt found, restart aircrack (without the -n option) to crack 104-bit WEP. Whats New in This Release: · This release adds an ACX injection patch, and updates the rtl8187 patch for 2.6.21. · It fixes madwifi-ng detection with airmon-ng. · It fixes 2 bugs in aircrack-ng related to WPA cracking. · It fixes an old Debian bug (#417388). · It fixes the use of wlanng, and fixes IP address writing in the CSV file with airodump-ng. · It fixes a bug in the GUI for Windows and adds a PTW option. |
